What a Ride!
on March 13, 2013 10:15 am

Well, it's been 5 years (almost).  I initially lost 140lbs with my band but the past couple of years it has given me fits and just recently discovered a slight slip. In the past 2 years I have also gained back about 50lbs.   I saw my surgeon today and I have decided to move forward with a revision to a sleeve if my insurance approves.  It's scary but I am excited to have this chance to regroup and get back on the road. :-)

What a ride it has been.

Wow.  I cannot believe it has been almost  a year since my surgery.  I never dreamed I would have this much success.  I am down (as of this morning) 114.2lbs.  It is almost surreal at times.  I wish I could describe the feelings I've felt this past year.  In many ways it feels like an eternity ago and other times like just a moment.  It is exciting, it is scary.  Sometimes I feel like "man I look good" and other times I feel like I haven't changed a bit.  To answer the quesiton I get asked a lto...Would I do it again.....YES definitly!

My appointment with the Bariatrician
on June 14, 2007 1:53 pm
Hi,

I had an appointment today with a Bariatrician.  It was kinda interesting.  I don't know how long it is going to take me to get approved for surgery or how much of a medical managed weight program I am going to have to  participate in.....so I figured this couldn't hurt.  Anyways, I have been told by my regular physcian that all my labs are "normal" and I have always questioned that......Dr. Kline is going to retest.  He also change me to a new anti-depressant.  I had been taking Prozac but he said that it did not really treat stress (and I'm a huge stress eater).  So I am now trying Cymbalta.  I start it tomorrow night.  We'll see.  I go for my lab work on Tuesday.  Well I'm off of here to do some work.

Later y'all!!

My Story

My story.......well, I'm 35 years old and as of today 360 lbs.  I have been overweight just about all of my life.  I was filling out some paperwork and had to ask my mother at what age did I first have a weight problem.  According to her----6 mos.  At 3 years old I ahd the heigt of a 6 year old and the weight of a 9 year old.  In other words I was a mutant (or felt that way at times).  Throughout my school years and through high school my weight problem wasn't too bad.  I managed to be at my heaviest only about 50lbs overweight.   Then came college.   Food was my coping mechanism.  It helped me through the rough times, the good times, and the in between times.  In many ways food became my best friend and companion.  Unfortunately it still is today, and that is something I am now trying to change.  It is difficult to say goodbye to a best friend but I know I cannot truly live as long as I have this weight.   That is why I finally made the decision to persue the lap band procedure.  I have my seminar at Norton's Hospital in Louisville, KY on July 17.  And to get myself ahead of the game I had an appointment today with a Bariatrician to help me get weight off before the surgery.  I have been fortunate with the weight I carry and have very few health problems outside of the weight but I am hoping to prevent that.  I will keep you posted on my Journey.
