Angela's Weight Loss Journey  Starting 4/15/08

Well what can I say.....Life is Good!!

I have lost a total of 86 lbs since 4/15/08 and absolutely love this new life I am living.

I continue to monitor what I am eating and make sure that I stay away from all sugar and bread.  I have added more protein and water back into my diet because I was slipping on both.

I have found a couple protein shakes that are pre-made that I really like.  Trader Joe's sells Worldwide Pure Protein which is pretty darn good, and I like Muscle Milk.  I can get a box of 24 Chocolate light (22 g protein) for 25.00 at Costco.  I like the pre-made a lot better than powder because I can take them anywhere.

The weight is coming off slower now but I am just plugging away and feel great that I continue to lose the weight.

I am getting ready to walk with WLS co-workers October 4th for the American Heart Association.  This represents a healthier lifestyle all of us have chosen!

Onward I go......I will update in another 4-6 weeks.

Well it has been an incredible journey and I have to say I am thrilled with what I have accomplished in 4 months.  I feel so good I can't really even put it in words.

Things I love to do now:

Workout
Have my Picture Taken
Shop for Clothes in Misses department in regular Stores
Try on clothes
Eat Healthy
Educate people who ask me about my experience
NOT be Self-Concious of my body
Wear Dresses and Skirts
Wear a bathing suit

The list could go on and on.........

It is amazing how little things make such a huge impact on your life!

I will continue to update my photos and communicate my journey........

Almost 12 Weeks Post - Op

I thought I would give an update on how my progress is going.  Personally, I think that I am continuing to chug away at the process and am consistently losing weight.

I work out (biking, walking) at least an hour a day which has really helped me on my journey.  To help me with my walking I tend to put in a DVD while I walk and will watch an hour one day and the rest the next day.  This helps me get through my hour each day.

I continue to try different foods to see how they are going to work.  I have issues with Chicken so I am not sure why, but usually it doesn't sit good.  Steak is a much better option for me.  Actually Flat Iron steak is the best!

One thing I do battle with at times is when I finish eating sometimes smells will set me off.  I will get nauseous and almost lose my meal.  So I have to be careful.

In my first almost 12 weeks I have lost 64 lbs and I am very happy with my loss so far.

6 Weeks Post - Op

Today is 5/26/08 and I wanted to write an update since I have had my surgery.  I just got back from a trip to Oregon and personally I am very happy that I have made this decision to have WLS.  I feel really great, and my family saw me for the first time since I had the surgery and they all were very supportive.

Since I had surgery overall everything has gone very well and I can eat pretty much anything that is allowed.  I do not eat sugar or grains at all but can eat fish, seafood, soups, tuna fish, etc.

I have figured out what works best for me and when to stop eating so that I feel really good and not full.  I also make sure to take my daily supplements, and protein supplements everyday.  I work very hard on water intake also and try to get in at least 40oz's a day.

At work I have an incredible support system where there are 6 of us that have or are having WLS and it truly helps.  I find that if I am having a problem then I can always ask them what works for them and then I get a lot of suggestions.

This is work every day but it is so worth it and I am so happy that I have made this lifelong decision to get healthy and change my life for the better.

I will continue to write often now that I am figuring out all the functions on this site

My Story

My story started at the young age of 4.  I have been overweight my entire life and have baffled many Dr.'s because with the level of activity and keeping food diaries no one could understand why I always had such a hard time trying to lose weight.  I have had test after test on my thyroid and a lot of blood work done over the years.  But, I have finally found the solution!

I looked into WLS a few years ago but it was such a tedious and discouraging process that I did not follow through at that time.  Well it is 2008 and I work for a company that has great insurance and the process was completed in less than a month from the time I saw the Dr. to the day my surgery was scheduled.

I am incredibly excited and after 2 1/2 weeks I feel great and can't believe how fortunate I am to have had this surgery and the new life that lays ahead of me.  I have already lost 24 lbs and it just blows me away that I haven't worn some clothes in my closet for over 2 years but I get to wear them now.

I look forward to this new challenge and take each day as it comes and utilize a great support group at work and home.

Will update more as I continue on this new journey.
