Surgeon Testimonial

William Bertucci, MD
Dr Bertucci is a Navy M.D. and he's great. He did a fellowship in laprascopic surgery at UCLA and I have 100% confidence in him.

He's been very good at answering my questions. He includes my husband in the visits and has a very good manner in patient care.

He expects his patients to adhere to the program and truly cares about our success. If you aren't, he'll let you know about it. You get the feeling from him that you aren't just another patient and that's great!

WELCOME TO CRABBY LANE
Angela's WLS Journey Through Maxine's Eyes

10 days until surgery
on January 12, 2007 1:31 am
I have completed all the required pre-op testing, classes, nutrition counseling, surgeon's appts. and lost 15 lbs. I am counting down the days until surgery.

I'm getting excited but nervous now. It is all becoming a reality and no longer seems to be something in the future. I was ready to have surgery at the end of November and very motivated, but due to my husband's schedule the surgeon wanted me to wait. I had to agree that it was probably the best although I admit I was a little disappointed and felt a let down.

Now that the date is quickly approaching I'm gearing up for it again and seem to be "nesting" right now. Getting the house clean, everything in order, shopping done. Not only will it help me feel better prepared, but it's a great way to keep busy before surgery. My husband is in the Navy and left this morning and won't return until just before my surgery. So the house is quiet and keeping busy is good. This also gives me some quiet time to read and review some of my notes and information prior to the big day.

Just before I begin the 2 day liquid diet I'm going to get a manicure and pedicure and pamper myself a little.

My surgeon is very nice and we call him and one of the other Dr's McDreamy and McSteamy. Wouldn't ya know it the dietician told them but they thought it was funny, thank goodness. My motto is, if you have to a Dr, he might as well be good looking, ya know?

Hello I'm  Angela, a 43 year old mother of two and grandmother of one. My husband is in the Navy and stationed in San Diego.  I will be having lap RNY at Navy Medical Center San Diego-Balboa on January 22nd, 2007. Just 11 days from now.

I have pseudotumor cerebri, hypertension (recently diagnosed), high cholesterol, fibromyalgia, and some other aches and pains. I am making this life long change to improve my health and hopefully reduce the risk of other illnesses.

A little about my personality-I love to laugh. I usually find something to laugh about no matter what the situation is. It has helped me deal with life and make bad times much more bearable. As long as I can laugh, I can make it!

I am a firm believer in never giving up! As long as you are here, tomorrow has endless possibilities. What may seem hopeless today, there may be answers for tomorrow.

I came to OH to learn from others and for the support. I have indeed learned a tremendous amount from this site and recommend it to other people. I appreciate all the members and staff for sharing info with me and if I can in return help someone that's what I want to do. I think we all need to help and encourage each other to be successful!

This little picture represents me and my "angel" Haven. She is so wonderful and has been a true joy. I wish everyone could have a great experience getting ready for surgery with the help of an angel like her. This is something I will definitely volunteer to do in the future. It is such a feeling of encouragement that someone is there to help and guide you. Thank you Haven! You are a true blessing and I appreciate all you do for me and others! You are the best!

My first little wow moment!

I am 9 days post-op and just going along with my daily activities. I was chilling out at home in the comfy clothes: t-shirt, sweat pants, and my must-have leopard print houseshoes. I looked down and suddenly WOW! My sweatpants are so baggy. I couldn't believe it. I started pulling them out in the front, rear, and legs and was so happy. I am a gal with plentiful blessings in the legs and rear if ya know what I mean. No, I don't mean I'm "all that" either. I mean I have plenty in that department! So this is a good day. The beginning of the little Wow's! I'm too happy to even be like crabby Maxine right now.
