Lifes Lessons
on April 25, 2009 11:02 pm
I want to thank all of you for the notes of encouragement and get wells I have got the past two weeks.  I have read some, my husband has read some to me, but he has been overwhelmed and unable to respond to them all and I am sorry for that, but I promise I will get to them.
As most of you know I had gastric bypass done on April 13.  Everything was picture perfect  and I came out of the hospital just fine on the 16Th, but with nausea that the doctors were for sure to go away in a couple of days.  Well I tried every medicine that the doctors could give me and I constantly was throwing up.  I had came home on that Thursday after my surgery and by that Saturday morning at 2 a.m. on the 18Th I was throwing up so bad I could not hold my head up.  I told my husband that I knew something was wrong I felt it in my spirit.  He said you need to call the doctor then.  I called the doctor on call at about 2:30 in the morning, but thank God in the end he was happy I did.  He sent me to the hospital for direct admit with orders.
I continued to get worse while at the hospital with the start of severe pain.  My doctor who had done my surgery came in herself Sunday even though she was not on call. I had emergency surgery Sunday morning.   I come to find out I had a obstruction in my intestines from a huge hernia behind my belly button.  On top of that my blood pressure would not level out.  I was put in ICU and all I could do is pray.  The doctor who done my surgery told me when she discharged me Friday, "Your one lucky girl."  To me it is not luck it was GOD.
Now would I do the gastric bypass again?????????? MMMMMMMMMM NO  Nothing against the surgery or surgeon, but for what I had to put my family and friends that do love me  through not to include the pain I am going through now or the lasting affects of the scarring I have on my body.  The surgery that started out to be 6 little holes the first time came out to be 6 little holes and a cut from my breast bone to the bend of my legs including a drainage tube in my neck, 2 in my stomach and a kemport in my neck.  The doctors do not know if the hernia was from the gastric bypass, but she did not think so.  I guess we will never know.
Through this I have learned a lot of lessons one God reminded me quickly that he still sits on the throne.  The second is to be happy the way you look or do something more about it.  (This don't include everyone though, some do have medical reasons.)  The third thing is you really find out who your "True" family & friends are (something I need to remind myself of daily.)  Be there for them while they are here and don't wait till they are dead and gone to say "I wish, I wish, I wish."  When it is all said and done you can not turn back the clock.

Love To All,

Angela
