Surgeon Testimonial

Mark R. Gibbs, MD
I found Dr. Gibbs and his staff very helpful. Dr. Gibbs has his patients go through a seminar prior to any paper work being done and the seminar was very informative and helpful. He had me meet with a dietician prior to surgery which was very helpful also to go over what I could eat after the surgery, when and how much. I have been using the book they gave me alot to refer back to and it is a very important tool for me. I would definetely recommend him to a friend.

I am a mother of 4 boys who keep my husband and I very busy with all their activities.  I was always very skinny throughout my teen years and early 20's I actually looked forward to gaining weight.  Then I had 4 C-sections and the weight just wouldn't come off.  My husband and I have been talking about me having the surgery for a while.  I mentioned I was considering it to a friend who has had the surgery and she told me with my husband retiring from the Air Force in March I should try to have it done before he retired.  That was all I need to kick start me into speaking to a surgeon.  I called and set up an appoint for Dr. Gibbs seminar and in less than a month I had approval and a surgery date.  My seminar was on August 24th and my surgery was on October 9th.  I'm told that is very quick turn around.  I am very pleased with it.

My Story

10/31/06   I had my 3 week post op appointment today.  Everything is good.  I have had no trouble with eating and I am down 22 1/2 pounds!!  I feel great and have been back to work for 2 weeks now.

12/15/06  Just passed my 2 months and am down 43lbs and only 62 to go!  I am so thankful and blessed that I have not had any problems since my surgery!!

10/15/07  It is really hard to believe it has been a year already.  What a year it has been.  Down right at 100lbs and at goal.  WOW I wouldn't have believed I would be this far today a year ago.  I am so thankful to not have any problems.  The very few times I have had a problem was my fault either trying to eat something I should or not taking my vitamins.  More the not taking vitamins than anything.

Weight 132.5lbs
Clothing size:  6!!!  - havent seen that since 1987!!
BMI   22.4

Where I was when I had surgery

Weight 232lbs
Clothing size 20-22
BMI  40

WOW!!  What a difference.  Not just in the weight loss but in the way I look at things especially food.  I am more careful about what I eat and think about things before I eat something that isn't good for me.
