My journey of obesity started at age 12. It's been a 23 year struggle that I'm so greatful will be ending very shortly! I am so excited about having the DS surgery. I decided to take a year to research and go through the process of being approved for the surgery. After all the work was complete I was sorta having cold feet. I thought I would give it one last attempt to "diet and excersize". Well, that was a futile attempt that was short lived and unsuccessful leaving me shamed again! A week later I received a call from the nurse asking to schedule a date for surgery. I was surprised that they had already sent in the approval and that all was approved. So, I picked a tentative date, got approval from my employer and two days later I called back to confirm my date and the nurse notified me that I had been approved for the RNY Lap procedure which is NOT the procedure the surgeon and I had chosen. Soooo, the correct procedure was resubmitted to MEdica and 3 days after I received the correct approval in the mail..AMAZING!!! So, here I am less than two weeks later and only 2 days from my surgery date. I had such a short period of time to prepare therefore, i've had little time to worry and second guess what I know is right for me.
