Surgeon Testimonial

Joseph Kuhn, M.D.
I love Dr. Kuhn, just wish I had the courage to do something sooner. He's such a sweet and patient man. He understood my fears and he really listened to me. With God and Dr. Kuhn all things are possible.

My New Life Started March 10, 2008
on March 26, 2008 12:10 pm
Who could have believe it? Just two weeks post-op and four days liquid diet I've lost 37 pounds. I'm a big girl so I really can't see it but I can tell by the room I have in my pants!. I'm so happy I had you all support to go through with what looks like one of the better decisions in my life.
On Monday, March 10, 2008 at 9:30 AM Dr. Jospeh A. Kuhn did what many would have walked away from; he performed RNY on a very overweight woman of 454 pounds. This wasn't a easy procedure. He accidentially nicked my small intes, thank God he noticed it before he closed me up. Dr. Kuhn was able to repair it by redoing my pouch. Needless to say I love this man. He's so patient and reassuring I felt very comfortable with him throughout the process.
Once I got to my hopsital room the care wasn't that great on 14 Roberts at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. I guess the nurse aide's didn't want to help such a large woman. Anyway the pain medicine that I took on a empty stomach made me sick. On top of that they the floor staff order the wrong diet for me. It was loaded with sugar. I told the staff that wasn't correct but they refused to check or change the order. However, when Dr. Kuhn saw what they were giving me I bet you the order was changed within ten minutes. I stopped taking the pain meds because once something makes me sick I stay away from it. I did have threee doses of Tylenol though. Dr. Kuhn gave me some antiboditics because of my drainage. He said the area was a potential for an infection so he wanted to get ahead of it. Which he did. I sure hope you can tell why I love this man. I was discharged four days later.
My first week post-op I had to have the JP drainage tube removed and I had lost seven pounds. So when I went back for my two week check up I lost another ten pounds. Again Dr. Kuhn was so patient with me. Can you believe he sat down and talked with me about how I was doing, my job, and TAKS performance. He told me that I had lost a lot of weight. I felt that he was so very proud of me. Maybe, during my next visit I will remind him that it took me almost ten years to follow through with his first suggestion. Dr. Kuhn removed my mother and then my sister's gall bladder about five years apart. Each time I spoke with him he told me I should do something about my weight. Three kids and a divorce later I was ready. There's no motiviation like wanting to be alive until your children (all under ten) get grown. Thank God for this opportunity to begin a new life!

A New Beginning
on March 7, 2008 8:27 am
Well I'm just three days away from my new beginning. Yes, I'm nervous and excited all at the same time. Thanking God for this wonderful opportunity and praying that He continues to bless me throughout my recovery. I am a good mother but my children will enjoy the benefits of a more active and healthy mom.
