Sleep Tech's Sleep Test
on February 19, 2008 2:03 pm
So, let me just tell you how weird it is to have a sleep test done after you've been a sleep technician administering them for 2 summers. It was so funny. I couldn't help but compare everything, but my technician was great and we swapped horror stories of awful computer malfunctions and sweating problems that we battled all night long.

She told me I sleep on my stomach (no big suprise) most of the night. The pulse ox was making my finger sore by the morning, but I was in deep REM when she woke me. That's probably a decent sign.

Next I have chest x-rays, and I should do the couple of other "walk in" tests that I have to fulfill. Then I guess it's just a question of picking a date? at least I hope it is.... I am still a little in the dark about where I'm at.

Oh, and I'm 21 now. And that is so much fun.

Also, the camp that I grew up at and worked at last year declined to hire me. It was really really sad. They said the reason was my energy levels- that I just didn't  have what it takes. Considering I had been there 14 years, its been overwhelmingly hard. I guess I'm also just mad that if I am banded I may be down a lot of weight and have more energy. but anyway, that's that.

Dazed and Confused
on February 12, 2008 9:49 pm
So, this is my first entry really, but I'm a little far along in the process. I saw Dr. Madan last Thursday and also had the beginning blood work done. This morning I had a Pulmonary Functions Test, which was later explained to me that it tests my lung capacity for the anesteaseologist (Sure, I butchered that spelling). Anyway, it's no fun getting up early to drive out to Jackson but I got there. Then they told me the test, which the secretary told me was scheduled, which she wrote the time down for, was not actually on their books. Thankfully, they saw me anyway... I would have not been a happy camper. I think they were just disorganized. The first guy stuck me and gave me some local ane. and then they switched techs and the new guy picked his own spot and gave me more shots, which I was kinda pissed about, but it was difficult to understand him and I didnt want to make him nervous since he was putting a needle in my arm. Next week I have some other test--- uhhh radiology? and a sleep study, which I am way too excited for (since I was a sleep tech the last two summers).

the only problem is that the sleep study is the day after my 21st birthday party. which will, needless to say, involve lots of alcohol. so, we'll see about that.

I'm not really sure where I'm going from here, or when my doctor will schedule me another appointment and such. for now, I'm just kinda in it for the ride.

Dad and I argued over Band/bypass today. he was very removed, but atleast admitted he was only looking at it from a medical wuss perspective. I have one friend here who I trust to help me sort through all the info, but right now I'm leaning towards a band.

And now, I can focus on my papers and my acting scene tomorrow and my 21st birthday. wooohooo
