I love her on the inside and that will never change; but I was so tired of looking at her in the mirror   ~April

My Story

I am a 31 year old mother of two who has struggled with weight all of my adult life. I was never really what I consider to be heavy in high school, although; I have always been known to have a bubble-butt or as some may say a ghetto bootie..

I have tried numerous diets. Weight watchers with NO luck (hated counting points). I took adipex for nearly 8 months, losing 65 lbs., only to regain it after becoming extremely depressed and nearly suicidal. I refused to continue taking a medication that made me feel worthless and depressed. I know now that taking that was more harmful to my health than the extra weight itself.

I never thought that WLS was something I would do. I even remember saying it was for lazy people and that if I couldn't do it on my own then it wasn't meant to be. I am now nearly 3 months post-op with a whole new attitude and 35 lbs lighter. The only thing I was right about is, I do have to do it on my own. WLS is no miracle cure. It takes lots of determination and hard work before and after surgery. I will say now it was the best decision I have ever made and it has changed my life forever.
