Hello Everyone. My name is April I live in Grand Rapids, Mi. and I had my surgery 6-25-07 in Muskegon Mi. by Dr. Dick Kamps. I have struggled with my weight my whole life. I,ve tried every diet known to man, some worked for a minute but the end result is that I always gained the weight back and then some, which was very frustrating. I joined this website to meet people that were going through the same stuff I'm going through and to learn about WLS and other peoples journeys. Its great to see or hear other peoples journeys ,makes ya feel good for them and I feel as if we share a bond since we've all been through pretty much the same battles and the we all have the same goal - WEIGHT LOSS- I love reading the message boards and talking to people. My Story Things I HATE about being overweight...... Having a seatbelt extender, Not being able to use seatbelts in other peoples cars, Having people look at you in restaurants and know they're thinking "OMG She should not be ordering that steak ..She needs a salad"  , Searching for a table instead of a booth for fear that you wont fit, Not going to a movie for fear you wont fit in the movie seat, Never taking a plane cause you know you wont fit in the airplane seat, Trying on clothes and knowing they wont look anything like the dummy in the store, Having shoe and purse addictions because they are always ONE SIZE FITS ALL.....BY THE WAY ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL! Looking for a bra in your' size not all BIG GIRLS have BIG BOOBS Some of us are small cups and big around Good luck with that! Hearing the old "You have such a pretty face " comment, Fearing that guy at the carnival that guesses your weight will yell out at you... Allthough I know he could have never guessed my correct weight, noone could've, Fearing seeing people from high school that has'nt seen you since you've become "weight challanged", Knowing people are checking out your' grocery cart and you wanting to scream "I swear the carrots are mine and the little debbies are my sons", Hating to see someone pull out that evil camera on the holidays and trying to see how many pics you can stay out of w/o being noticed, Being "the fat friend", Having to be weighed in front of other kids in elemetary school, god that was horrible, GYM CLASS, Hearing sympathy phrases like "oh you're not "that" fat" Hmmm WTF is "that" fat?, not being able to bend over and tie your' shoes, Knowing when you are sitting down waiting in an office people are thinking UGh i dont wanna sit next to the fat chick, Chairs with arms, Arena seats, weight losss commercials, cause if your' sitting with someone you think they're saying Hmmm I wonder if she's tried that, people thinking "her mans a chubby chaser" LOL I do love that though, Not wanting to workout cause ya know they'll all be looking at your fat ass , Not wanting to pick up my son cause I know he'll be embaressed of his fat mom, people thinking just cause you're fat ...you are lazy, which BTW is not true at all, Being the fattest person in my family and knowing they all think it, fearing seeing certain family members cause you know you're gonna get the run down on being fat and the health issues which BTW is great to hear from a size 0, and as if you are not aware of this and that your fat , Breaking out in tears when you have some place nice to go and a closet full of clothes that doesnt fit you any longer,  having a HUGE wardrobe that is collecting dust in rubbermade tubs... but not wanting to give them away cause you keep saying "someday", living in jogging suits and cheap t-shirts cause its all that fit ya anymore, and if ya turn the shirt inside out no one will notice it's the same shirt LOL, The ole' pulling up your shirt neckline to hide them chins. These are just my thoughts Thank god for my WLS! |

So since I had my things I hate about being fat below I thought I'd add this......Things I love about losing weight, Having less chins, seeing my feet
, Having something in common with that relative that used to hound me about my unhealthy fat lifestyle, no longer being a member of the "clean your plate club", hearing my hunny say he is "thanksgiving full" LOL its funny he knows what that means, discovering new bones, bending and not needing a rescue squad to get back up, looking forward to seeing my trainer at the gym 4-5 days a week, walking into a restaraunt and saying "it doesnt matter....booth or table" I KNOW I'LL FIT!, Having people I have seen every week for years not recognize me now, ordering off the kids menu,not worrying about lawn furniture or kitchen chairs holding my fat azz, going to a movie and being comfortable in the seats, not hiding from the camera , in fact I'm quite the ham so far...Mmmmm HAM 
Opps sorry .....Trigger word LOL, Anyways so far so good !
