Surgeon Testimonial

Phillip Hornbostel, M.D.
I just had my first consult with Dr. Hornbostel. All I can say is....he is wonderful!! He answered all of my questions and my hubby's too. How refreshing, a Dr. that actually listens to his patients! I knew he was a very knowledgable and capable surgeon from the seminar I went to, but he also is just a nice man. His staff was really nice also...they took the time to just talk! So far, so good! I hope that everyone has as much luck with their surgeon as I have had with mine so far.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I had given up. I thought I was gonna die. I have lymphedema, high blood pressure, and i'm a factor five defienct.(my blood is too thick). My mother has diebetes and my dad died due to heart problems. I was depressed, especially after my mother had both legs amputated and had a stroke soon after that. I had resigned myself to the thought that I was gonna end up just like my mother. With all the yo-yo dieting I had done...I would lose a little and gain back a whole lot.

No way...I wouldn't have ever believed it before having rny done. I am losing alot slower now though. I think I'm averaging somewhere between 5-10 a month. It's ok though maybe I won't have much loose skin that way! See yall next time.

Almost to my Halloween Goal!!
on October 8, 2007 11:37 am
Today I'm weighing in at 221 lbs. my halloween goal weight is 216 lbs. I hope I can make it!! I would love to be under 200 by Christmas!! That would be a wonderful Christmas gift! I'm still wearing a size 14 in jeans...although they are getting a little bit looser on me, which is a good thing! lol. I'm hoping for a treadmill for Christmas!
I have noticed my weightloss slowing down though, but i'm almost 8 months out now....so I guess I'll just have to work a little harder than I was. I do watch every label though...something I never did before surgery! I usually have coffee in the morning and put protein powder in it...I buy it at Wal-Mart for $13.97 a can....and it is huge!! It is called Body Fortress Whey Protein Powder. 1 scoop is 26 grams of protein in it. I do need to focus on eating more though. I just forget because I'm not hungry except at night or in the evenings.
I have three boys and they keep my running alot especially lately cause two of them have jobs and 1 is still going to school. I will try to post again maybe next month.
