Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I've spent my entire adult life as a heavy woman. The emotional impact has been extremely detrimental. I've always been the person who makes fun of myself before other people can, but inside it hurts to feel that way!

Two months postop
on March 21, 2012 11:02 am
Well this month has been full of ups and downs! I'm losing but not as fast as I'd like! My fault because I've been skipping protein and my vitamins and not working out as much as I should. Seems like there's just never enough time! I'm happy though and feel pretty good most of the time. Alot of time I get nauseas after I eat and wish I hadn't ate at all, but I know I have to. I have experienced dumping once and I never want to do that again! I have found that if I have too much sugar I get hot and nauseas. Love the exercise, it's so much easier when u weigh less! Trying to stay on track and keep motivated!

One month post op
on February 20, 2012 2:07 pm

Well, I'm one month post op now and finally feeling amazing! I still struggle with nausea alot after I eat, but my nutritionist gave me a few ideas to help. I don't know how to describe it other than I just feel healthy! Of course, it's not just the weight loss, I also quit smoking and am exercising daily. I have found that I absolutely love walking my dog around the neighborhood! I had my last nutrition class this past saturday and was glad to hear that my food options really open up now. I'm still scared of food at times so I'm not going overboard! I was just glad to hear I can have a small salad, so now I have some choices when eating out! I miss my coffee but have found that without sugar I don't like it as well. I'm not crazy about any of the artificial sweeteners, and I can taste them a mile away! I'm learning what works for me and what doesn't, what I like and what I don't. Today was my first day back to work, I was going stir-crazy at home! Felt great, I hadn't seen co-workers in a month and they were telling me I looked great, you could see a difference, and I looked healthy. Noticing differences in how my clothes fit and loving it! I have to get better getting that protein in daily, but I'm trying! I was pretty frustrated because in the past week I really haven't lost any weight but my nutritionist said it's normal and she thinks I may be dehydrated. Hope so!

Doing okay, I guess!
on February 4, 2012 7:53 pm
My 2 week post op appointments went good.  Had a brief trip to the ER evidently the catheter gave me a bad UTI. Last few days have been frustrating, I seem to be nauseas every time I eat. The only thing I enjoy eating are the sugar free Popsicles! Socially, I'm so tired of sitting home, I miss going out for dinner or drinks. Funny how friends have disappeared. Hope my mood improves

One week Post Op
on January 25, 2012 7:43 am
One week Post Op....doing good, moving around pretty good. Getting frustrated with the puree diet, pudding and broth and yogurt are very unappealing now. Struggling at times to get daily protein needs in. Happy with success so far, lost 7 lbs in one week. Lost 16lbs on 2 week liquid pre op diet, so I'm down 23 lbs in 3 weeks. Not bad, haven't been at this weight in years. I feel the difference and that's so satisfying after years of diet and excercise and never seeing more results than a couple of pounds. I am still experiencing some pain in my right abdomen, kinda like a burning, especially when I bend over or roll over or sit down. I'm sure that's normal since it's only been a week! No problems really keeping foods or liquids down, been nauseas at times but it passes. So excited to live this new life! Funny, I thought I would be missing all my old favorites, french fries, chips and chocolate. I'm not. I'm really craving an apple and some carrot sticks LOL. I think I miss the crunching LOL. Getting bored sitting at home, but I know I should take advantage of the break because my work is crazy and I never get a break! Overall, happy happy!
