Surgeon Testimonial

Salvador Valencia M.D., F.A.C.S.
My Mom & I flew into San Diego on a Sunday. We were greeted by Dr Valencia’s driver & were driven into Mexico to Ensenada. The driver was so pleasant & it felt like we were on a guided tour. He pointed out points of interest & gave us a lot of information as we drove to Ensenada. We went to the Velmar Hospital and that is where one of Dr Valencia’s staff members met with us. Dr Valencia had arranged for my Mom to stay with me in the hosipital room to make things easier for us. The Hospital was very clean & we felt at ease. Later that night Dr Valencia & his partner came to see me. This was the first time I met with Dr Valencia. He was very professional & kind. He explained the entire procedure to my Mom & I and made sure all questions were answered. He explained all the possible complications to us, & made sure we were comfortable.rnMonday morning I went into surgery. I was scared as anyone would be having a major surgery. I woke up after surgery to see Dr Valencia & his partner were in my room with me.rnFor the next 2 days DR Valencia & his partner checked on me several times throughout the day. They treated me like family. The hospital staff was wonderful; even though there was a language barrier they met all my needs. I was surprised at how well I was doing. I was up & walking 1 hour after surgery. The pain was minimal and very bearable. I was at the hospital for 3 days & was then released to go home.rnDr Valencia had his driver take my Mom & I back to the San Diego airport.rnSince my surgery which was 10 weeks ago Dr Valencia has followed up with me via the phone to see how I am doing. I have lost 54Lbs in 10 weeks & have never felt better. I have energy & feel so much better about myself. I have joined a gym & attend regularly. If I had to do it all over I would do it the same exact way. Dr Valencia is the best.rn

Back On Track!!! 10/16/08
on October 16, 2008 8:46 pm
I am so happy to say that I am back on track. My sister is on a weight loss program & is loosing alot of weight, and she has become a major inspiration to me. My entire family is so totally awsome in the fact that they have always encouraged me to just do what is right & healthy for me. After I attended the one day event, I got so enerigized that I got back on track. I also purchased the BodyBugg & that is a big help as well. I am going to the gum now on a regular basis too. Oh did I mention I got a personal trainer. Yep sure did. I sure did need to get back on track.

Well I got to go to my first OH Event & I must say it was alot of fun. I met alot of local people & got re-aquaninted with some that I already knew. I got to meet Betty Sue from the Biggest Looser & wow what a motovated person she is. It gave me alot of inspiration & helped to set my mind back in the direction it needed to be in. I am going to try once again to stay on track & make this work.

Where did I go.....

Well I sure have not been good about keeping this page updated to say the least. It has been almost 1 year since my last post. I was doing great & somewhere I got completly off track. I got to the 70lb loss mark & then I started eating as if I never had the surgery. I have not gained any weight but also have not lost anymore either. I got very depressed and mad that I allowed this to happen. My doctor as well as everyone around told me that the surgery was just a tool & that I would need to change everything about the way I eat, well as I said that only lasted for a few months. I kept telling myself prior to the surgery that the surgery would have to work, because if I cheeted & got sick that, that would put an end to the cheeting real fast. Well thats an under statement. I did cheet & did not get sick. And as much as I hate to say this, I really wanted to get sick. Nothing happened, so I cheeted more & more untill I was compleatly eating just as if I never had the surgery. Pizza, Ice cream, candy, whatever. The only thing I did not cheet on was soda. Once I started I could not stop. It has been just over a year since my surgery & I am now getting back on track. I have lost another 10 lbs in the last 3 weeks. I really have alot of hope to trigger another weight loss, after all I did not spend the amount of money on the surgery just to have a 70lb weight loss. I have to really work at my food addiction. I will try to keep this updated a little more often. Tomorrow is A 1 day OH Convention in Maes & I am going & hoping to get more motovation there.

Update
on October 3, 2007 2:13 pm

WoooHooo. Well I am now 9 weeks post op & feeling great. I am down 45lbs. My husband keeps telling me how great I look. What a wonderful feeling. I am eating the best I can. I am very careful not to eat sugars, and I eat very little fat. Some of my food choices are: Salmon, tuna, boca burgers, eggs, chicken (love it with salsa) yougart & sometimes kashi cereal. I add veggies to my meals to make them more complete. My favorite treat is Blue Bunny Health Smart Ice Cream bars. I will up date more as I continue to be a looser.
