First of the Season ****** 04/25/09 ******

Apr 24, 2009

OK, you would think that having A day off that one would tend to relax, maybe do a couple of LIGHT chores around the house............................................NO, NOT ME!!!  I guess the extremely nice weather on Friday lit a fire under me and caused me to become MR YARD MAN  I worked out in the yard all day ( from 9am until around 530pm ) I think I decided to cram too much into one day: edge sidewalk, used the weed eater, mowed and bagged the yard, used a Thatcher machine ( never seen one until Friday ) re-mowed the yard using the grass catcher to pick up all the thatch, ended up with 22 bags of clippings...the worst part....I got my first SUNBURN of the season.    I have to admit, this season is totally different from last season.  I would have never thought about doing that much yard work before.  I find it amazing the amount of energy that I have now since the 91 lbs have come off.  I have reached a plateau right now where no weight is coming off.  I expected that to happen and I am not worried about it.  I know it will kick back in soon enough.  A good friend told me that it is just my body playing catch up since dropping the weight.  So, I have been stuck at 265 for a little while now, good news is that I have not gained any.

I have felt sooo much better since my doctor stopped my blood pressure medicine.  I do believe the reason I was so tired was due to that medication.

It is Saturday morning and it is so nice outside.  I am sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee and the door open, such a nice breeze coming in the house...I am also admiring my yard work from yesterday....  .... a word of advice... never jump into a really warm shower with a fresh sunburn LOL... I was stupid and done that yesterday evening... OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

****** 04/19/09 *******

Apr 19, 2009

It is hard to believe that it has been almost a week since I was back home.  I sure miss it.  I think I managed to do good weight wise while I was there and since I have been back.  I did decide to get on the scale today and was happy with the results.  I am down to 265lbs for a total weight loss of 91lbs or a total of 26% total weight loss.  I did buy a new shirt the other day ( really did not need it but since it was XL, and it fit ,I bought it ) I decided to go with what my PCP said to do with the weight loss, set a goal of 200-205lbs.

There and Back ****** 04/16/09 ******

Apr 15, 2009

My trip back home to Arkansas has come and gone.   I was there for nearly week and I can't believe how fast the time went by.  I was able to surprise family and friends with the weight loss.  They were all amazed at the change.  I think I did good with the eating back home.  I tried a few different things and discovered some foods that I can't tolerate right now.  I was able to eat pickles but not cucumbers, I did good with toast ( nearly burnt ) but I was able to eat it.  I only did about 1/2 of the toast.  I did eat some salad while I was home.  It tasted so good and I was so happy to be eating a tomato again.  I was a little sad, of all things I have trouble with mushrooms !!!  I can't figure that one out for the life of me.

I have to confess, I don't think I like driving long distances anymore.  This trip was a little over 14 hours one way and I think I felt every mile of it.  The drive was really nice but just toooooooooooooooooo long and what a change in weather.  I left the Cleveland area in the middle of a large snowfall and ended the drive for the day with the A./C on in the car.  The drive took me through Columbus, Cincinnati, Louisville, Nashville, Memphis, Little Rock and finally home in Pine Bluff.  The landscape went from SNOW to Full blown spring.  I took the dogs with me and they did so good on the ride.  They were just as tired as I was on both legs of the trip.

I am going to stop this entry now... my  mind has gone totally blank

visit with primary doctor today ****** 04/03/09 *******

Apr 03, 2009

I had my follow up visit with my primary care physician this morning and it was a VERY good meeting.  I was so happy with the scale today.... showed I weighed 270 1/2 pounds.  That means since I started my weight loss journey back in August, I have managed  to drop 86 pounds ( so,in 7 months I have had total weight loss percentage of 24%)OK, back to what the doctor said.  We reviewed my lab work, the results were really good.  I was most happy with my A1C number coming in at 5.7, not bad considering it was 8.5 back in the fall.  The doctor said to stop taking the blood pressure pill and to cut the dosage of the Metformin down from 4 pills a day to just one in the morning and one in the evening.  He wants to see me again in July and then he will decide, if labs are good, to take me off all my medication !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
