My Story

Well, I'll be honest in saying I really fought hard against having surgery.

For years.

I'd think about it, then I'd chicken out, rationalizing that I could "do it on my own". Boy, was I in serious denial! Instead of losing the weight and keeping it off, I'd lose, then regain, plus 5-10 more pounds. This yo-yo-ing had gone on since I was 11, and honestly, I was tired of the ride. My weight had crept up to an all-time high of 299lbs! Yikes! I had to do something about it, and finally had the courage to take that first step and go to an information session in January 2012. After months of dietician appointments, tests, doctors' appointments, I was finally approved! I had surgery in August 2012, and it has been a game-changer. I can feel such a difference compared to how I felt in January--just lighter! 

I know it will take a lifetime of working with this tool, but I'm glad I decided to do it.
