First Consult 9-7-07

Hi Y'all,
I had my first consult with Dr. Ganta in Austin, TX.  We discussed the sleeve and he felt I would be an excellent candidate for it. He felt I could be very successful at loosing a good amount of weight with this procedure and he seemed to support and agree with my reasoning of why I preferred the sleeve over the other procedures.

I did ask him if he had experienced insurance covering the sleeve and he said no. But then when I asked how many sleeves he had done; it was 5. I am hoping that my company, maybe, is progressive and will cover it.  This is a new insurance company for me - BCBS-TX - UT Select. They do cover WLS if medically necessary.  I think I will call them myself to check and see if they cover the sleeve and see what they say.

In a couple weeks Dr. Ganta will have my letter ready to go to insurance!  Keeping all my parts crossed!!!

My Story

Hi everyone!
I live in Cedar Park, Texas with my wonderful husband, Tommy, and our two furry children (see photos); Spook the yellow lab, and Pitchou the Siamese.

I am 5'3.5" and am around the 230 weight range. I honestly never thought I would consider WLS; however, like most of us; I've tried so many things only to have limited or no success then gain more weight. My wonderful mom has talked with me several times about WLS but I always said, nooo, I'm not ready. Well, a few weeks ago; I became ready. It was simply time. I went to a seminar on WLS and have my first consultation on Sept. 7, 2007.

I work at a desk job at the University of Texas. We have an insurance change-over Sept. 1st to UT Select-Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas; and they cover medically necessary WLS!!!!!  I pray that I will be lucky enough to be approved for this surgery! 

My goal is to loose 100-110 pounds.  ;-)))
