Surgeon Testimonial

Todd Burry, M.D.
My first meeting with Dr. Burry was in a group session with two other individuals. We met first with a respitory specialist, then with a dietician, and then finally with Dr. Burry.

Dr. Burry seems quite young, but very competant. He is strong in his resolve for good patients that will adhere to the program and get the best results. He explains the surgical procedure in detail, then goes over the complications and risks, describing how the Deaconess program is doing compared to others nation-wide. He allowed any questions, and did not make me feel like I was wasting his time.

Afterwards, he met me in my own exam room (along with some interns of some type) to further examine my capability for surgery. Again, asked for more questions, and we moved on to the next step. Very good bedside manner.

His office staff is great -- Traci and Karen (receptionist and program director respectivly) have both had the surgery, and Penny is just a fountain of information. I don't care too much for the dietician, but the excercise therapist seemed real helpful.

What every patient should know going in to meet Dr. Burry - he is very picky on his patients. He wants the patients that are not as likely to have complications and are more likely to reach their goals. However, his competancy comes shining through, and I had no qualms with him opening me up. He's dedicated to his work, but doesn't make you feel like you're in the way. He came to visit each day in the hospital, but it was more like a visit than just picking and prodding. He even remembers family member's names and pertinent details (hubby had surgery the Friday after mine, and Dr. Burry and staff continually checked up on him).
