Surgeon Testimonial

Amjad Ali
I first met Dr. Ali back in July of 2008. He was so sweet and caring, took his time with me and answered ALL my questions and didn't rush me. He really LISTENS, doesn't write or look away from you, he looks in your eyes and LISTENS! His qualifications are great, his office staff is great, his nurses are wonderful and Sherry the insurance coordinator is so understanding (I have bothered her enough during my approval process, and she was always nice and professional). I give 2 thumbs up to Dr. Ali, I trust him 100% to do my surgery and his bedside manner is more than anyone could ask for!

9 Months Post-Op

Today marks my 9 month surgi-versary!  My scope revealed NOTHING ... my surgeon told me to chew more & take eating slower.  Everything is going great .... except from the occasional bad eating & the feeling after.  I am now 167.8 lbs & I am only 7.8 lbs away from GOAL!  I hope to be there in a month or two!  I went from a XXL top to a MEDIUM top (How cool is that?!?!) ... I went from a 22/24 pant to a 10 (which are getting too big on me!).  I am going shopping today, so hopefully I can find a 8/9 to fit into.  My boys just got over the flu & my daughter has it now ... hopefully I don't come down with it, I have not been sick since surgery (Including a cold).  I am thrilled with my RNY & my body is too

Heartburn? Ulcer? Who knows :(
on October 12, 2009 7:16 am
For the last few weeks I have had a burning sensation in my pouch after I ate.  It has gotten worse & is not kicking my ass every time I eat.  It is not painful enough to double me over, but is enough to make me STOP eating.  So, I don't eat nearly enough calories a day as I should be eating.  I called my surgeon this morning & I have an appointment tomorrow morning & they called me in 2 scripts & told me to stop my iron supplement.  I was told I will probably have to have a scope done ... which I am scared to death because my friend just had the lapband done by my surgeon in July & she now has had it removed & is going to Pittsburgh Hospital to be seen by a different doctor because she still vomits (3 months later & no band there) & they found a suture at the bottom of her esophogus why the hell would there be a suture there?!?!  So I am sooo hoping that she had so many complications because of her BODY rejecting the band & it is not my surgeon.  I love my surgeon & he has always been so nice & great to me ... AND my RNY is wonderful & I never had a complication until now (almost 9 months out!).  So hopefully it isn't anything really bad & it goes away ... because this sucks!

...& I am in a size 10!!  I lost 5.4 lbs this month.  It is slowing down drastically, but it's okay, I look HOT :)  I went shopping today at Old Navy for my daughter & saw that the clearance racks were 50% off .... so, I took a look!  I got a size 10 (T-E-N) jeans & a 12 khakis .... I also bought 2 shirts (one size M & one size L).  I look & feel wonderful!

I have been tired lately, but that is because I am not getting enough calories in a day.  I need to work on eating 3 times a day, but it has been so hectic with the boys & ALLLL their sports & doing the housework & stuff.  Hopefully soon I can start logging my food again & take my ass to the gym!  I haven't been there in 2 weeks!!!

I am very pleased with my RNY ... some days when I eat too many carbs I get real sleepy & if I look at food or smell it I want to vomit & I tell myself just ONCE I want to eat without feeling so f*cking yucky.  But it passes in about 30 minutes to an hour & I am fine.  I just wish I wouldn't feel like that sometimes ... especially when I am on the go, because I never know what is going to make me feel that way.  But it is getting better :)

My Story

I am Karen, 30 year old married mother of 3!  Ray is my loving husband .... my children are Austyn, Raymond III & Chloe.  I have been overweight since I was in 3rd grade.  I have decided on WLS this past year '2008'.  It was the biggest decision I ever had to make, this will change not only my life, but my family's life as well.  What made me go this path? ... I had that moment, the moment of "OMG, is that ME in that picture?!?!", it all becomes reality when you actually see some type of footage of yourself.  I am so ready for a diet change, I NEED this tool to help me.  I am so sick of the yo-yo dieting, I lose weight and then it comes back PLUS 10 lbs!  I am so excited to go through this new journey in my life ... I am also so scared of the changes I am about to face.  But, I can do this ... for me and my family!
