ONDERLAND??
on February 6, 2013 12:12 am
I know I've been MIA but I had to come online to say it took wayyyyy longer than necessary but I finally made it to ONDERLAND! Sunday I was 3 types of surprised when I got on the scale & it said 197. Today I weigh 199 lol but I'm still under 200 so I'm not gonna cry. Anyway, good luck to everyone & be blessed.

Long time no see
on May 22, 2012 7:25 pm
Ok its been forever since I posted anything. The reason is not much has changed...BOOOOO!!! I am 7 weeks post op and today I weighed 232. The messed up part is Sunday morning I weighed 229.8. I was so happy to have finally made it out of the 30's but I knew it wouldn't last. From Wednesday to Sunday I lost 4 pounds from 233 to 229 but then from Sunday to Monday I gained all 4 back! The worst part is its not like I went on a eating spree. I think the scale Gods just hate me lol. Yes, I weigh daily. I know most people say not to but it keeps me mindful of what I'm doing. Especially, because I have to watch myself since I don't dump from sugar or anything else. I do get the worst stomach pain when I eat certain things like white meat but it refuses to come back up so I just suffer for a LONG time.
But, enough of my complaints. I'm happy in general. The physician assistant said that even though I think my weight loss is super slow its really not. She said I've lost 23% of my excess body weight and that's fine. I'm wearing about a size 16 (I think) since I avoid dressing rooms & trying on new clothes. It took a while but I've forced myself into the gym. I had to finally come to terms with the fact that the scale is not going to move if I continue to sit on the couch lol. In other good news I'll finally be using my nursing license soon. God was with me on this one cuz I made my mind up that if I got a job offer before my 6 weeks was up I was just going to suffer through it and take my butt to work. But, I got the job offer on Tuesday and had my 6 week appointment/clearance on Wednesday. I know that some people return to work much sooner but I was told that with the physical demands of nursing it wouldn't be a good idea for me to start working before that. As you can see I'm hard headed and don't like the idea of not having a pay check so its a good thing it worked out the way it did.

Second week down
on April 18, 2012 3:16 pm

I'm officially on week 3 so just a quick update on how week 2 ended. My weight loss was very slow. I went from 242 to 238. I'm happy to lose & I won't complain about 4 lbs. It was hard at first to see a smaller loss after losing 14 lbs the first week. But, I realize this will happen at times. Losing nothing would've had me in tears so I'll be grateful. I still can't do much by way of exercise. The physician assistant said I can slowly walk on a treadmill for about 20-30 minutes. I'm waiting for the day that I can go to the gym & really work out. I know the weight will disappear then. I ALMOST FORGOT!! I had my first NSV today! I put on my favorite jeans which I haven't been able to wear in about 2 years...hell I couldn't get them past my thighs but today they went on buttoned & everything. I didn't expect to get those on for a few more weeks. I still won't wear them for a little while because I have room in my stomach area but I have a little extra in the back so they ride low & I don't want my business hanging out when I sit lol.

Is puree killing my loss??
on April 16, 2012 7:33 pm
I started puree last Wednesday. Since then my weight loss has gone from 2 lbs a day to nearly nothing at all. Since Wednesday to today (Monday) I've lost 2 lbs. I know I know...don't weigh every day yada yada. But, come on 2 lbs at week 2?!? My best guess is that my body is adjusting well to the change because I stopped being able to go dince then as well. I haven't added any crazy foods. Mostly chicken & I had pureed fruit here & there too. A day or so go I pureed some greens hoping that would help since it did pre-surgery lol. That was a fail. I took a laxative yesterday & added powdered fiber to my shakes today. That did the trick but I can't take a laxative every day so I need my body to catch on! I haven't called my surgeon because everyone knows post-op we generally end up constipated or with the runs sooo...

Ok lets be honest all I really care about is seeing the scale move.

First post-op appointment
on April 11, 2012 11:32 am

Today was my first post op appointment. I have officially been home for one week. When I came home I weighed 256. Six pounds of that was the fluid & swelling gain. From the day I came home Wednesday 4/4 until today Wednesday 4/11 I have lost 14 lbs! That makes a total of 24 lbs since the start of liver reduction on 3/20. I'm so excited about that. I went from 256 to 242 in ONE week! Where they da that at?!?! Oh, thats right on OH & in the WLS community!

As far as my visit everything went well. They took out the stitches & removed the steri strips. The physician assistant said everything looks & is healing great. She even let me move on to pureed (whoooo!!!!!). I can't tell u guys how I HATE HATE HATE every protein product. The shakes, drinks, body fortress shots even the greek yogurt with high protein. I'm hoping I'll be able to puree some chicken & just be happy .

Now for my not so happieness. I had LAP RNY but the large incision on the left of my belly button was stitched. The problem is that it was stitched to a muscle which means it was pulled up & deep into my abdomen. So, it caused a indent in my fat. It looks like I have this nasty little fat roll. The doc made it sound like once the stitches were out it would go back to normal. Well, he lied! Of course I knew that once I realized it was sewn to the muscle but I hoped it wouldn't be so evident. Now, they try to comfort me by saying when u lose weight it'll go down & blah blah blah. Trust me that does not help. I think it'll look like hanging skin & in the mean time I'm not going to be able to wear anything that is fitted cuz you'll see the roll! WTF!! This is why I didn't want open RNY so my poor stretch marked stomach wouldn't be any worse but damn it man I didn't see this coming & idk what to do.
