1st Month
on April 24, 2012 12:32 pm
I had my Duodenal Switch on March 5, 2012.  Although the first few days were uncomfortable, it is worth it.  Because after the 1st week, I've had NO problems, NO pain, and feel completely normal.  After the initial 2-4 weeks of eating liquid/baby food consistency, I've been able to eat ANYTHING but just only a sample size until recently.  I can go out to lunch with friends and appear to eat normal foods (no vomiting) but I can only eat a smal portion.  I take all my vitamins and I do my best to eat protein first so I get all my protein in for the day.  I also drink water all day long (except not at meals).  I have also begun to exercise (dance classes and free weights).

I weighed 270 pounds when I the the DS weight loss surgery.  Thanks to the DS surgery, I lost 35 pounds in the 1st month bringing my weight to 235 at 1 month.

As of TODAY, I am 222 pounds which means I've lost 48 pounds so far.  But I plan to post my weight corresponding to each complete month to keep it simple.

Every day I seem to loose between 1/2 to 1 pound but I feel like I have plenty of energy and know that I am getting plenty of protein (45+ grams a day) and plenty of water (50+ ounces a day) so I feel HEALTHY.  I feel so FREE not having to worry about food because I know that I AM getting thinner which motivates me to exercise.  I was SO depressed before the surgery because I felt that I was too far gone to bother with exercise plus my joints hurt!

STARTING WEIGHT:  270  , HEIGHT: 5'8"
1 MONTH:                    235    POUNDS LOST THIS MONTH:  35,       TOTAL POUNDS LOST:  35

(I hope to update this chart for each month.  I have also taken my BEFORE measurements and hope to post my AFTER measurements later too.)

I would love some tips on how people are loosing and maintaining their weight loss with the Duodenal Switch.  I so appreciate people like Lori Black and other's who've taken the time to write great profiles.  I am trying to do everything she says she did to loose the weight.  Thank you, thank you, thank you for any tips!
