Long Time
posted on 10/16/10 12:29 pm
I'm not sure where to start since its been so long since I posted.
I still have not had the surgery.  Sadly I am no longer working and so even though I was approved for surgery on my last insurance I am not longer covered under it.  I worked at the hospital almost 13 years and I was so sad to have to quit but my son is going through a difficult time and I am all he has.
I am now unemployed and on DSHS.  We are currently waiting for my son's disability claim decision and that should help financially.
I guess the good news is that I have found out that the University of Washington's bariatric program accepts my current insurance and so I am going to start the whole proccess over with them.  I don't know if any of the stuff I have already done will carry over but I hope to find out next week.  I have already spoke to my new doctor and she is going to research how one of their other patients was able to have the surgery and what they had to do.
Another good thing is that I am at my lowest weight in probably 10 years.  It's still over 300 pounds but I had been unable to get below 330 for a long, long time.  Of course when you have no money for food and no DSHS benefits yet its easy to lose a bunch of weight.  Now my goal is to get as close to 300 or even under before surgery.
I don't know how long it will take to get the surgery, I am guessing it might have a long wait list since it is one of the only ones in the state to accept my insurance but the sooner I get things going the closer it will come.  I have been waiting so long already I would be happy for anything right now...
