Surgery a no go!
on October 12, 2008 8:47 am
I have decided against having surgery for now. I am not ready and I have to many issues with work and nervousness and I think surgery would end up a flop. I don't want to go into surgery with these issues. . For everyone going to have surgery or has surgery Congrats. Good luck and I wish u the best....

Accomplishments after Surgery!
on July 21, 2008 10:43 pm
I thought I would make a list of accomplishments for after surgery:

1.) Be able to enjoy my kids.
2.) Do my job without huffin' & puffin'.
3.) Buy clothes in the 'Normal People' section of the stores.
4.) Lose weight & keep it off.
5.) Become physically fit.
6.) See myself as a more attractive woman.
7.) I want to climb the hill behind my house up to the "Guidelines".(Major Hill)
8.) Be attractive to my DH. (even though he says he loves me anyway I am)
9.) Try out some of JuneCleaver's recipes.
10.) The children I work with not ask if I am going to have 'a Baby'.(A major accomplishment to me)
11.) See my feet & tie my shoes, instead of slipping them on. LOL
12.) Not have to sleep with that oxygen machine.

Measurements!
on July 8, 2008 9:21 am
I did my measurements this morning.....

Waist- 45 1/2"
Hips- 48"
Chest- 44 1/2"
I didn't measure my arms and legs because they are small and it's not a big deal to me... The big 'GUT' is what I want rid of!

My Story

I am  33 years old.  I haven't always been overweight,Iwas a size 14 when I graduated high school.. Then I dropped down to a size 10.(I was pretty active when I graduated). I got married and my husband's family were very social eaters.(Not saying it was their fault) it just gave me an excuse to eat. I was a homemaker while my husband drove a truck. I became an overeater because I was bored and lonely , and it sometimes was emotional eating.

Then we had 2 children, I stayed home to take care of them.  After staying home with them until they started school. I decided I was tired of setting at home alone so I started back to school.
Then I got a job as a Teacher's Aide in Head Start. I enjoyed my job alot.  It seems to be really hard to get through each day at work and life in general because of my being overweight.  I have not been real active.

Well initially I wanted the Lapband because it was less invasive, but I think it is not the right surgery for me after attending a seminar and hearing the Lapband and the RNY from the physicians/surgeons. I now want the RNY because I need the Malabsortive and restriction that comes with it. I don't want to have the Lapband because of fills and the band getting to tight. I don't want to keep going in and having fills and taking the chance that it might be to tight and then have to drive for a hour and a half to have fluid taking out.

I am here at OH to learn and find the support that I need to pursue and come out of surgery with support and friendly informative people that are here on this site. OH rocks!
