Surgeon Testimonial

Mark R. Gibbs
I have not met with Dr Gibbs one-on-one yet. I went to his 12.28.07 seminar and was extremely impressed. I have worked in the OR with him in my early days of nursing, as well as taking care of his patients post-op on the Med/Surg floor where I transferred to. He is not only nice to his patients, he is nice and respectful to everyone around him. I am looking forward to working with him this time when I'M the patient!rnrnNow that I am post-op, I just gotta say, Gibbs is the best! Overall, he is top-notch!

Extremes

I have taken blood pressure medicine for years now and a few weeks ago I started getting dizzy like if I got up too quickly or in the middle of the night, but it would pass if I gave it a little time before I started walking. A week ago Saturday I got up around 5 AM and got dizzy so I just stood there waiting for it to pass. Next thing I knew, I was on the floor and Ron was standing over me going, what the hell just happened here? It took about a half hour for me to be able to get to the bathroom and when I did i was vomiting. We went to the ER and my blood pressure was int he 60/20 range, with my heart rate in the 20's and 30's. I don't remember much but Ron said I was not making any sense trying to talk. Anyway they did a LOT of labwork, and my kidneys were failing. No one has definitively said that it is due to the bypass, although I was dehydrated and my thyriod function is very low. This was at St Vincent. They sent me home on Tuesday which was aparrently a bit too soon, because I was in the Baptist ER on Thursday after sleeping for 36 hours at home because I had no energy to do anything else. My BP was in the low normal range, but my heart rate was in the 30's. I came home Saturday and will be off work another 10 days. I feel okay today, just tired. Hospitals are the worst places in the world to get any rest! I am taking thyroid medicine and obviously have stopped taking BP medicine.
