My big supporter
on January 14, 2008 11:00 am
Well this weekend was a wonderful relaxing time with my sister and Brandon. After the research that I have been doing I am getting worried about Brandon having sleep apnea. He does this thing when he is sleeping on his back when he is snoring and it sounds like he stops breathing and then gasps and begins snoring again. I told him about the research I had done and how I thought it was related to being overweight and since the talk he has decided that he to could lose a little weight and has joined me on the Slim-Fast diet. I think this will be a good way that we can support each other.

First appointment
on January 9, 2008 3:41 pm
So today I called to set up an appointment to see Dr. Moran and I will be going to see him on January 30th and will also be going to the seminar on WLS that day as well. I  am going to take a personal day that day to get all my ducks in order. Aslo I called a primary health physican ( I just moved here and do not currently have one) so that I can get something to help me fully quit smoking for good and pretty much they denied me so I am going to have to look for another Dr down here. Also weighed myself for the hell of it and I lost 1.4lbs so that was a good way to start my day.

5 Down
on January 7, 2008 11:27 am
Well this morning I woke up to being 5 lbs less than I was last week at this time. It's a start and I feel good to know that this diet not matter how

ridiculous it may be is working. At this point I just want to fit in my clothes comfortably, without having to lay on the bed to zip up my jeans or find a shrit that won't cling to the "intertube of fat" around my waist. On a better note, 5 lbs is good and just the begining! Go Me!!

Getting Started
on January 4, 2008 5:36 pm

So today while doing more research on Lap-Band surgery, I came across this site and I loved how you could track your progress and get support from others going through the same thing. I am in the begining stages of all this and have to set my first appointment with the surgeon that I have picked. However now I am questioning whether I want to say with LB or look more into DS. I think I have more questions now than before I started doing research. Well I sould have time to decide, I don't want to rush this but would like to have this done before my birthday in June.

My Story

I have been overweight as long as I can remember. I think I was about 8 when a neighbor of ours came over and I remember that she had on this outfit that I really liked and she said that I wouldn't be able to wear something like it unless I lost weight. Since then I have known I had a wieght problem, and for some reason people seem to think that they needed to point it out at every oppertinuity. I never understood that. I was in high school when I first thought about getting WLS, but like most I was scared to have a serious surgery. I went on thinking that was always going to be the fat one (both my sisters are like toothpicks, they got the good family genes). For the most part I will say I was ok with it but really I always wished that suddenly I'd wake up and lose the wieght, but it never happened. Every now and then I would get a bug in my butt and decide that I was going to do this diet or that diet but the second I stopped the diet, it was like a waterfall, and all the wieght plus more was back on for the ride. I did all the crazy diets and the diet pills, but nothing was fixing my problem I had created with food.

I think that my main problem is that I never feel full, and when I would get to the full point it would be to late and I would have "stuffed" myself to the point that I felt sick. But of course there was also the binge eating. I am very good at eating through my emotions. I gave comfort food a whole new meaning.

In October 2007, when it was time to enroll for my benefits at work, I looked into whether or not the insurance would cover any part of the surgery. Luckly as long as I meet the requirments I will be covered. Since that point I have been doing as much research as possible looking into all the different types of surgery available, and which one I tink will benefit me the most. This really is the begining for me and I look foward to keeping up with my progress on here.

Since I have read that dieting is a large part before the surgery, I have put myself on the "Slimfast" (haha that's ironic) diet. I started this diet on January 3, 2008 and will hope to continue this up to my surgery date (which has yet to be set).
