Surgeon Testimonial

Dominick Artuso, M.D.
I've only met with Dr. Artuso once. Nice man, answered all of my questions. Surgery is set for 10/23/2007. Will provide more details after surgery. Well I'm 3 days post -op and feeling good. Dr. Artuso was fantasic!! I saw him last week at a health fair, he answered questions for me and my wife. My surgery was a difficult one .. took 3 hrs because of scar tissue from a previous surgery. He was at my bedside when I came through .. he found my wife and went over everything with her! Two days later I got a call from his staff, they were checking in to see how I was doing. I told them I felt he pain pills were a little big .. He was in surgery .. couple hours later phone rings .. Dr. Artuso!! I would highly recommend him. Great bedside manner and gets back to his patients!! I'm now 1 month out .. Dr. Artuso has been great, in fact .. I've recommended him to my daughter!!

Hello ..

Hey, where do I start?    I'm a 45 year old father of 2 and have been married to my lovely bride for 19 years.  I've battled weight problems most of my life and I'm probably at my heaviest weight.  I work in the computer field for a large company, and I can't weight (pun intended) to lose the other person I've been carrying for all these years.  I will try to keep everyone posted as I go through the process and I will ask alot of questions!  With help and support I will be a new man!!

Finally got myself a date set for surgery.  This has been a long time coming and I think that it's time that I shed my extra skin and start to enjoy life with my wife and children.  I started with the boards in August and look forward to hearing from as many of you as I can.  I've done a lot of reading on the Lap-Band and I'm hoping that it will change my life.  I'm in Dutchess County, NY .. and I will put up any new information that I find.  In the mean time I hope that you all have a safe and effective WLS!!!

Got my date for pre-op testing on the 18th.  Surgery is on the 23rd and I'm getting a little anxious to get his over with.

10/18/2007

Had pre-op testing first thing this morning!  All went well.  Nurse went over everything that the hospital provides and I should be in one day and out the next.  Here's where I think I'm lucky .. my wife works in the hospital where I'm having the surgery .. and her department is next door to same day surgery!!!  I'm counting my blessings on that one.  Surgery is Tuesday on 10/23.. no time set yet but I'm getting ready.  Going to a health fair this weekend .. they will have booths and tasting so I can try various protien drinks and shakes.  I'll go pick up the things I need on Sunday.  So far we keep moving along!!

Surgery was 3 days ago.  My surgeon had a tough time as I had scar tissue from a previous surgery.  the 1 hour surgery took 3 hours.  They had a tough time getting the tube in and my throat is still raw.  So far, I've had gas pains and problems swallowing pills.  I've found sleeping on my side helps with the gas .. and crushing the pills is a no brainer.  I've been on 3 oz liquid meals .. and to my surpise I'm not hungry.  All the food commericals trick me .. but a couple of sips of water and it's gone.  Down 15 lbs already .. losing those built up fluids .. that's it for now!!

11/13/07

Went to the doctors this weekend.  Was really happy with my progress.  Before surgery I was taking 90 units of insulin, 4 glucovance and 1 actos pills per day.  Since surgery NO insulin, NO actos, and 2 glucovance pills per day and my sugar has remained stable!!  I've dropped one of my blood pressure medications (Loterel) and my blood pressure was 110/70 I was AMAZED!  I'm down 27 pounds and I go in for my first fill on 11/28/07.  I'm seeing really good things from this surgery so far .. I'll keep ya posted.
