Three weesk post-op and feeling pretty good
Hi all
It has been three weeks since I came out of surgery and I have yet to write an update because I was home and my home computer will not let me post on this page.

Immediately after surgery let just say I did not know stomach gas could be so painful, but other than that everything went pretty good. I was sent home after just two days and for the first two weeks really did not have any appetite to speak of. I will say, however, that eating broth can get really old really quick. I felt like the dude in Forest Gump takling about shrimp - "I made light broth, blended broth, chicken broth, beef broth..."

I went for my two-week follow up visit and learned that I lost 15 pounds. I was definitely happy about that.

I have enjoyed reading all your experiences, but can someone tell me — does anyone else feel hungry or have an appetite already and how are you all getting all your proteins? This seems like a challenge to me.

I feel you on the broth thing. I had my surgery on 1/31 and it's still hard for me to get the water and protein in. My doc said this is a goal; he didn't expect me to leave the hospital gettingin 80g of prot and 64oz water; although he does stress the importance of both and getting in a little more each day. Most times I don't have an appetite and force myself to eat. On the most part 'head hunger' is what I feel....which is just your mind telling you that you want something....like allthe good nmeals my family ishaving w/o me...but that's OK cause I"m almost 30lbs lighter....so they can eat w/o me for now. Good Luck and congrats on your first 15 lbs. Just watch; it'll continue to fall off; and even more so for men I"m told.

Glad to hear that you are home safe and sound! As far as getting the Protein in, I would suggest that you try:
1. New Whey Liquid Protein by IDS- It's 42 grams of protein and only 3.1 oz-176 calories
Taste: 5 out of 10 (I think the Grape and Orange flavors taste best- I don't like the Blue Raspberry or Fruit Punch)
or
2. ProComplex Augmented Protein System- It's 60 grams of protein for 2 scoops. You can mix it with as little as 8 oz of water- 270 calories **This is the one that my Surgeon recommends**
Taste: 9 out of 10 (I drink the Rich Chocolate Milk flavor)
