Surgeon Testimonial

Steven Tersigni, M.D.
First impression of the doc is that he's very quiet and reserved. His exam was quick and very professional. He actually recommended I have the RNY, but I explained the reasons I wanted the band and he agreed with me. He definitely listens to what his clients want. The only thing I'd have wanted different is that I'd have a follow up appointment the next day with him to ask all the questions I needed. He did visit me after I woke up, but I was too groggy to think of any questions. Robin the nutritionist is the best! So are the other ladies I dealt with in his office. There is a very structured aftercare program including a diet, support group meetings, and fills. He addressed the risks of surgery very seriously, and I was definitely scared about what I was going into. I count that as a very good thing. Overall, I'd pick him again in a heartbeat. My scars are all in a line at my waist, I really like their placement and their size. He seems like a very caring man and expert surgeon.

2/1 [249.8]
***LowerBody/20min bike***I'm feeling this really weird feeling in the back of my throat like there's food there. If I lay down, it feels like I have food coming up. It's really weird. And sometimes I have this weird fluttery feeling between my chest and my throat. I wonder if it's stress? or esophageal spasms? It's very disconcerting.

***Cardio 45min***Well when I finally went to bed to try to sleep, I found out that if I laid on my right I could barely feel the problem. I think I overate? yesterday? I decided my one cheat of the week would be chocolate, so I had a handful of raisinets. Maybe they clogged something up? I dunno, so I'm going to do a couple days of liquids to see if the problem clears up.

I did almost all liquids all day yesterday, the problem was a bit better until I had two peices of pork and some bbq sauce. I'm doing all liquids again today to see if it will get better. I haven't felt the free fall feeling quite as much and the lump in the throat feeling is like I wrote above. On the plus side I weighed 247? this morning.

***Upperbody/35min elliptical*** Well I went to bed last night with the same problem, but it has not happened this morning. I was able to eat eggs and toast and drink water without a problem.

***Lowerbody/60min elliptical***The feeling is slowly going away, I can eat 6 egg whites at a time scrambled with no problems. I don't have an appetite yet though, maybe it's a little bit of restriction kicking in from my last fill? I sure hope so!

***30min bike***Uggghhh! Why do I do this to myself. I forgot to watch portions and ate twice the carbs I usually do. I felt so miserable, I went to the gym and really felt nauseous and all tingly in the face but managed to do 30min of the bike :( I couldn't lay down cause it felt like my food was coming up, so I stayed up til 2am :(

***Upperbody/45min(3mi,600cal)elliptical***Well, now I know that if I overeat, I get the frog in my throat feeling for a whole day if not more. I've got to work on getting portion control working again. My right shoulder is hurting like crazy so I could only do chest and triceps. I felt awesome after the hard cardio session!

I find myself feeling pretty guilty if I miss my time at the gym, I never thought I'd see the day again! My knees still hurt, especially the left one. My weight was awesome today, wooohooo! I think it's because after the cardio session yesterday, I didn't eat chocolate or something like that, I ate 1oz cheese instead. GO ME!

***60min (4.25mi,715Cal)elliptical***The gym wasn't open after church yesterday so I went this morning first thing. It was a good workout.

2/13 [245.4doc] ***Fill TWO***
Met a new doc today. He was so nice! The nurse did the novacaine thing which didn't hurt at ALL! She says she's way more gentle than the doc, and boy is that the truth! The new doc spent a long time explaining everything I already know from this site. I have a total of 5cc's in my band now. I asked him to put 3cc's in and then I felt this really weird pressure and water started coming up, so he put in only 2cc's and that sees perfect. I can swallow liquids ok, it seems like I should just go a bit slower than usual. Woohoo, I'm so ready to see what this fill will do. I know it probably won't do much, but I'm still excited. :)

We are doing the Valentines thing tomorrow. The second fill feels fine. I'll be doing liquids until 1, then on regular food. I might do mushies.
HOLY TOLEDO, restriction. I just PB'd a mushy spinach and artichoke dip. I had half a sandwich and almost PB'd, I was able to keep it in though. Wow, I have to learn how to eat now!!

***Upperbody(UB)15min/spinclass60min***... still PBing some. Hot liquids right before a meal makes a world of difference. I can eat anything, I just have to chew it well. I can't tell quantity-wise if I feel any difference. Haven't been back to the gym yet, I will go today, PROMISE myself.

***UB35min/Ellipt60min(4.3mi,730cal)***When I was on the elliptical today, I had about 20 minutes where my heartrate was at 161-165 and my breathing was effortless, and I was not tired at all, I felt like I was floating on a cloud. It was the best feeling ever, I was pedaling away not feeling what I was doing or that I was even breathing. It was SO COOL! l I'm able to eat without getting stuck as much now, but I think the TOM is over also.
