Surgeon Testimonial

Keith Chung, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Chung and his staff were very helpful. They seem to be totally sincere about their patients and their needs. Not sure about the surgery or aftercare yet but will update after surgery.

Just like all of you here, obesity has always been a big part of my life....It mostly all started after having children and I just was never able to lose any weight after that.  I've been on so may diets it's unbelieveable..Diet pills mostly and I feel that if I continue with those they will be the death of me.  It's time to get this weight off and keep it off!!!  Surgery Date is scheduled 04/11/08...Can't Wait!!!!  I want to feel what its like to reach in my closet and pick out anything to wear and not feel like a cow in it.  I'm hoping and praying that the VSG is my answer..

Well it's been quite a while since I posted anything, just don't seem to get to set at the computer much anymore, guess I've got more energy to do things that actually need to be done....This surgery has definitely been life changing!!!  I've lost approximately 62#'s and have now hit the stallin point...that's depressing!!!   I need to exercise, I know that would help tremendously, just haven't seen to find the time...I know I need to just make the time....that was the excuse before surgery, I need to do better now....I've been going thru a hair loss process for the past month, that's a bit depressin but it's starting to slow down..  All in all I'm glad I went thru with the surgery for sure!!!    My weight started at 232....this morning I was 169...so I'm excited!!!   Now wearing size 14 from size 20....

One week out 04/19/2008
on April 19, 2008 8:09 am
It's been a week and 1 day since surgery, finally feel like i'm ready for the real world again, this pass week has been just kinda blah...really trying to focus on the fluid intake of which is not the easiest to do right after surgery, but it's getting better. Finally able to add mashed potato's yesterday, totally amazed at how much I could eat before feeling full....
Surgery recovery was rough for me, the night of the surgery was awful, dry heaves all night but that seemed to have gotten better once I got home...I think if you can make it past that 1st 24 hours you've got it made.  Every recovery is different, mine was hell that 1st night. I also acquired a neck pain I guess from sleeping crooked that ended up causing muscle spasms in my neck for 3 days after surgery and there's really nothing you can take that soon after surgery and I didn't want to keep taking the narcs.  I hate taking meds so resorted to the heating pad, that pain was by far worse then any incision that I have ever had with any surgery.  Should be going back to work on Monday so that's a good thing, then going to the gym to walk on the treadmill at lunch or at 5, whichever seems to happen for the day.  We've had a family membership at the 24hr fitness since November of last year and have been maybe 3 times since then, so now I'm fixin to get my money's worth...It's a contract i'm locked into for a year, so why not take advantage of it right...
Weight seems to be slowly coming off( I say slowly, it's only been 1 week).  When I started this journey I weighed in at 232, after the liquid diet the day of pre-op I was 224, today when I got up I was 215, so it's coming off...can't wait to get under 200....I have faith this is going to work, and faith will get me there.  I have a very supportive family so that helps as well.  Back to work on monday and I have a very supportive team there as well, so I think I'm set now...  I'll try harder to keep this blog going, just havent felt much like writing lately, but that's all better now...

1st Day of Liquids
on April 6, 2008 11:03 am

This is by far not the easiest to do!!!! I use to have a burger and fries for lunch after Church, but instead, jello and Chicken Broth...don't even sound appetizing....That's ok...I'm gonna do what I have to do to get to Friday.  Having such a supportive family makes it a lot easier as well...

Dr.'s Appt.
on April 2, 2008 8:23 pm

Appt tomorrow with Dr. Chung.  I get to find out what this liquid diet pertains to :)..I know I can do this....sticking to a diet just never has been for me, but this liquid diet is going to work. I have a support team of my sister and mother-in-law to keep me on track.  My coworkers have all actually told me they are going on this liquid diet with me for support...They are the absolute best!!!  I need to start getting some protein drinks in....any ideas are greatly appreciated.
