Surgeon Testimonial

Joao Marchesini, M.D.
I'm back to square one. I'm being laid off, which changes everything. Instead of waiting twelve months for insurance approval under COBRA (due to insurance-required diet monitoring), risk battling a NEW insurance company over coverage, or wait a year for FMLA to kick in again, I've decided to go ahead and self-pay while I'm unemployed.

I've decided to go with Dr Marchesini in Brazil. I like him for several reasons - he's very polite in his emails, he answered my questions, and addressed problems he foresaw from my emails, wanting to confirm whether or not I was ready for surgery. He didn't just rush into it, but took the time to make sure I was prepared.

    HAPPY 1st SWITCH-I-VERSARY, BT ... I hope you're as proud of yourself as WE are of you. You've been a stellar student who has in many ways surpassed her teachers. You've grown in many more ways than you've shrunk -- and that's a heck of a lot. And as far as the other horizons you wish to explore, you may need to go outside your comfort zone but it's all within your reach ... A year from today you'll be posting about this and having realized many of your wildest dreams. {{{HUGS}}}

My Life At 75 MPH
A DS Journey Thru Space & Time

Secret Hopes

07/31/2006 Where does the time go? A year ago (Aug 2nd), I got my surgery date, and knew I was going to Brazil for surgery. It's been over a year since I was laid off, and it's been six months since I left Florida. A year ago I weighed 260-something pounds. Now I'm 168.

My little wow moment recently was when a friend of mine said something about trading clothes with me & some of her friends. She's always had a cute body & wardrobe.....but it's never been possible for us to trade clothes. I may not be at goal yet (my pre-plastics goal is 130 - my eventual goal is 118), and I may never be - but I feel like I'm finally normal.

Yet I find myself sometimes depressed that there haven't been MORE differences in my life.....my love life hasn't picked up. I'm still going on just first dates, no seconds. Work is still just 'okay' - nothing spectacular. And despite the weight loss, I still feel like I look 'fat' because I'm still apple-shaped.

I thought I had come into this with pretty realistic expectations, and I'm finding out that I had secret hopes that it would fix areas of my life that hadn't turned out the way I wanted them to.....and so far, it hasn't done that.

I may seek out another counselor up here to discuss this with. Here's a pic of me taken about a month ago. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
