Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I have been overweight since I was a child. As an overweight 5 or 6 year old, life wasn't always easy. I had some friends but was never "popular". I am so thankful that I always had a supporting family around me, telling me how beautiful, smart, and charismatic I was--because without that, I don't know where I'd be. Having such a "rock" in my family, I developed into a self-confident teenager who disregarded what my peers said. My sense of self got me through many "fatty" jokes and comments. But that's not to say that words don't hurt..because they do. As I got older, I ate out of boredom or depression. I wasn't going out on Friday and Saturday nights with my friends like all of my peers were doing. I wasn't invited to the movies or dance...

Two Years Post-op!
on May 28, 2012 5:25 pm
Hope you are all enjoying your Memorial Day weekend! God Bless the USA!

Date of surgery: May 26, 2010
Weight at time of surgery:
261
Highest weight:
around 285
Current weight:
 162
Lowest weight:
150
Height (kind of important, I suppose): 5' 7.5"

Unhappy that I weighed in at 162, 12 pounds higher than my lowest weight but about 7 pounds higher
than my "maintain" weight
My struggle now is to get these 7 pounds off and maintain at 155.
Anyway, I didn't edit or photoshop the photos so you can see it all in it's glory! (strechmarks, etc)

What's changed since my 1 year? Well... not a whole lot of ground breaking stuff. I actually am weighing in a little higher than I did 365 days ago, so it's not my weight. My health has stabilized. I am able to eat more now, and I am desperately trying to watch it so it doesn't get out of hand. I hope do do a bariatric "back to basics" "diet" (I use the term diet VERY loosely) this summer and I hope to re-energize my sleeve.
I have been more open about my sleeve in the last year, but only with those whom I feel it necessary. My friend decided to have VSG about three months ago and I couldn't be happier that I shared my VSG story with her.
Life's good. I LOVE my sleeve.

Please comment if you have any suggestions for me (trying to get back down to 155) or if you have any questions.
Please don't comment if you're going to tell me I don't need to lose any more weight and I shouldn't worry about those 7 pounds.
