Surgeon Testimonial

Michael W. Johnell, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Johnell was very wonderful when I went in for my consult. I was very impressed by him and his staff. He doesn't over look anything. He is watching out for what is the best for you. Office staff was very polite and made me feel very comfortable. Everyone is very detailed oriented and will make sure that they have all of the right information and that you do also. Very excellent place to go!

Horrible at Posting!
on July 20, 2007 7:57 am
Okay, I have decided that it is more fun to post and read posts than to keep up with this blog.  I just had my one year appointment and it went sooo well.  All my labs came back good exept for my liver enzymes were a little high. I have to get them re-checked in three months. He said not to worry right now about that.  Everything else is good.  I have never felt better in my life.  While I am not quite at the goal I set for myself, I am pleased with my progress.  I will make my goal if my body is willing to let go of this last little bit.  It is nice that the office didn't have a set goal for me other than to get healthy.  That is their focus, not the weight.  They are very pleased with my progress.  Now I just work on not gaining any of it back!

WooHoo!!!
on January 22, 2007 4:39 am
Ok,  I was nervous to get on the scale this morning. I don't know why, I guess I figured that I would be stalling again.  Maybe it was because I have been stressed, working long hours and dealing with things at school.  But..... I am down to 171. OMG  I can't believe how close I am to 100 pounds gone forever!!!  I am so excited about that. I did my little happy dance this morning!!!!  DH thinks I have too many endorphines going these days.  He just doesn't understand.  He has never had to deal with this.  I hope that my boys have learned from me and will always watch their weight.  So far so good with that.  Anyway,  what a way to start the week.  I know it isn't much. I only went from 174 to 171, but that is a big deal to me right now.  Weight loss is definitely slower these days.  The snow isn't helping either!!!!  I want to see the ground again!!!!!

Horrible week
on January 18, 2007 6:41 pm
It hasn't been a very good week at all. We are in registration mode as well as end of semester, beginning of the new semester.  There was a horrible accident involving three of our students monday night.  Two of the students lost their legs.  It has been hard to see these young lives that will never be the same again. I am so glad that it almost Friday.  To make things worse, there was another accident today at lunch.  A car rolled over, luckily no one was hurt.

6 month check up
on January 18, 2007 6:30 pm

I had my check up today.  I am down to 174!!!  It is so exciting, I never thought I would be here.  All of my labs look good exept my vit. D is a little low, so I need to get some sunlight!  I am so excited about how my appointment went.  I go back July 2nd.  I hope to be at goal by then.

My Story

I have been big all of my life and never knew anything different.  I decided that I was going to do something about it before I died.  My highest weight was 268.  When I had surgery I was at 252.  I am now down to 171.  I am not losing real fast, but I am happy with what has taken place.  I have been given a second chance at life and no one can take that from me.  I now know that I will be around for awhile yet!
