This has been a long journey, but my surgery date is 12/5/06.  I am excited and terrified.  I am worried I won't be successful at this, but I have already made major changes in my life to accomdate and help myself.  Things are going great.  My new job is good, I love our new house, my DH is home more and my support group is nearby.  The entire PN process has been wonderful!  I am so happy I opted to come back to Minnesota for this.  My mentor and best encouragement is my daughter, Julie, who has lost 105 pounds with WW and exercise.  What an accomplishment!  This is happening fast, in 26 days I will be in "Loserville"....One step at a time, one day at a time.

I was down over 5 pounds, yippee. Still sore but feeling great. I had a good talk with Amy regarding my fills and my ability to trust her after the unfortunate leak at my port site and tubing. I'm feeling much better today. Onward with my spirits, downward with the scale. I have so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Today's the First Day of the Rest of my Life
on November 13, 2007 1:40 am
I am up early and I'm trying to stay calm and meditate.  I am excited and scared.  In just a few short hours, I will have the new AP lapband.  I pray that it works this time and I have no complications.  Underland here I come!!!
One day at a time, one step at a time.  I claim a miracle.

New Band Surgery 11/13/07
on November 5, 2007 5:25 am
I thought it was time to update my profile.  I am on day 3 of liquids, it's not fun but I can do this!!!!  I am anxious and excited to get my band fixed, these months of no restriction have been terrible, especially when I know how well the band works.  I know that I have done the best I could and not had a weight gain all these months.  But I was hoping to be near my goal at my one year mark.  Oh, well, there is nothing I can do but look forward and not look back.  I am so much better off than I was last year at this time.  One day at a time, one step at a time.  UNDERLAND here I come!

Four Months from Surgery
on April 4, 2007 6:33 pm
Well, I've lost 30 pounds and I feel terrific!!!  Down from size 20/22 to 16 pants and some medium or large tops.  It's terrifying to shopping, I always head to the "Women's Sizes" but I don't belong there any more and I'm not quite confident about buying smaller stuff yet.  I am going to get by until I'm another 10 or 20 pounds down.  I can run, yes I said RUN up the stairs.  AMAZING.  Third fill is going to be a charm for me, I just feel better already.  I LOVE MY BAND !!!

3 Months
on March 1, 2007 12:59 pm
I had my 2nd fill today and I will be at 3 months on March 5th.  I am down 25 pounds YIPPEE!!!  Amy told me I was a "perfect band patient" I am not sure about that, but what she meant was 2 lbs a week is very good and I am thrilled with this weight loss.  Hope I get some better restriction and am satisified longer.  I LOVE MY BAND!

My Story

January 2006 - Wrote my letter to PNC about WLS. Nurse contacted me to set up an appointment with Bariatric Nurse.

5/11/06 - I had my appointment with Dorothy and Frank came with, she was thorough and patient and answered tons of questions. I am so excited/scared. I believe I may have found the answer to this long troubling struggle with weight. I am praying this anxiety will go away.

6/26/06 - I have had my evaluation, medical, psych, dietition, physical therapist, waiting for insurance confirmation. The staff at PNC is so professional. God grant me patience and I want it NOW!

6/31/06 - I went to my first WLS group support meeting. Thank God for answers. I could just feel the love and support in the room and laughed, Barb is so funny. It felt good to get so many questions answered and my fears eased a bit.

7/3/06 - Dorothy called and said she was submitting the paperwork to BC/BS - I am hopeful and excited....my WLS buddies keep telling me to hang on for the ride....and I am!!!

7/10 to 11/1 - Got a job, bought a house, moved from FL and WI to Minnesota, finally settled and can go ahead with the surgery.

11/6/06 - Met with Dr. Jones - Have a surgery date of December 5th, I'm excited/terrified.  Going to support group on Wednesday, hope it helps to calm me down and encourage me to see all the success and love in that room!  My DH is wonderful.  26 days, but who's counting....

11/29/06 - my 4th day of liquids about did me in, on Monday I met with Dietician and On Tues had my preop physical, so far so good.  Had a rough day at work, food obstacle course and I was HUNGRY, but back in check.  Five days until my surgery, I am going to try to journal and set some goals, etc. "Keep My Eyes on the Prize."
