Surgeon Testimonial

Mark G Hausmann
My first impression of him was WOW. He is very handsome. Also very knowledgeable. He was to the point and answer all my questions before they were asked. He gave me the pros and cons on all the procedures even the ones he doesn't do. He offered to find a surgeon for me if I wanted the procedures he doesn't do. Ask to meet my husband and kids. Amazing! His office has a structured aftercare program. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate Dr. H. a 1,000,000. He is an exceptional surgeon and cool under pressure. He almost demands aftercare and has the program there for you. You couldn't be in better hands. His staff is A-#1.

Hi, I'm Bejai!  I am 46, married to a wonderful man and mother of 3 handsome boys and 1 beautiful girl. I can say without hesitation I haven't had any extraordinary troubles with my kids. Just the normal kids stuff.   I believe putting Christ first in our lives has made the difference. I have had a fearsome weight battle for a very long time as have most of us. Sometimes I would win sometimes I would lose. Well I have won the war. I realized the battle was not mine but the Lord's and I gave it to him and of course, He won! Always be careful what you pray for but do pray. My surgery was July 24, 2006 and my 46th birthday was July 26, 2006. Best present I have ever given myself. I can honestly say my life has changed for the better. The surgery was not and is not a cure, but it is a means to an end if used correctly. I have been Blessed with this and I intend to use it to the fullest. I would tell anyone considering the surgery to research and make sure you are ready for the changes you need to make and the changes this will bring. Its been an awesome journey so far and I am looking forward! TTYL!!

Hmmmmm!

Hello There!
Well I am 3 years out.  My only complaint is me.  Its been a long time since I've been here and I feel like I should have been here sooner.  Three years out I have I am 25 pounds heavier than my lowest weight.  I am happy in every aspect of my life except my weight.  I also know that it's my responsibility to correct whats wrong.  It's easier now that I have the tools to do that.  Its still a struggle to get my mind in the game. Working hard at it.  I should be going to support group meetings.  I went to one last month.  I felt strangely out of place.  There are lots of newbies there craving information but most of the attendees are sleeve patients(or potential sleeve patients) of which I am not.  I know that all of the surgeries are related in some way but the effects are vastly different.  I can't speak to whatever obstacles a sleeve patient might encounter and there were no RNY patients there to speak with about their journey new or old.  Alas I find myself at a roadblock.  What to do? Hmmmm.  I need to think it over.  Later, Bejai!

Hello and Happy New Year!
The journey continues.  There are hills and valleys and my weight ebbs and flows, but no significant gain.   I am healthy and happy.  My family is doing well and we are Blessed. Learning all the intricate possibilities after this surgery is sometimes consuming and other times surreal.  I have met many people and still readily answer questions  about my journey from my point of view.  I also advise people to research an decide what is best for them.  Also not to take this as a quick fix but as a life altering journey that is forever. I  feel that I have had the best surgeon, office staff and support group in Louisiana possibly in the U. S.   I have no complaints and I would readily do this over the same way probably sooner.  I no longer dread the next days in my life but welcome them.  I don't think that there is anything I have wanted to do that I haven't done since my weight-loss.  If you are a friend and you are reading this, please know that I consider you a Blessing.  Wishing you all the best and I won't take so long to post an update.

Busy time!
on April 11, 2008 7:05 am
Its a very busy time of the year.  Winding down the school year.  We are gearing up for my daughters prom, graduation.  Busy with Upward Bound for my youngest son. My older sons are in search of their place, I hope they find it soon. And that its a good place for them.  Having lots of fun with my hubby.  He is laughing more thats always good.  Desperately needing to get back on track with my food.  Been making some not so great choices lately.  The Mississippi River is really high here and that has created alot of excitement.  Can't wait to break out in some pretty summery dresses.  Figure flattering of course.  Feeling better than Blessed.  I am looking foward to lots of new and postive adventures.  I'll bring you along when I have the time.  Till then, Huggzz, Bejai!

Spring is almost here!
on March 18, 2008 6:48 am
Well the weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer and I am getting smaller.... Yippeee!  Feeling pretty good.  Finally got up the nerve to put my picture as an avatar. Although I don't know how long that's gonna last. I had to do something since my best bud Frances has forced me out of my my safety spot of obscurity.    Had fun at the Women's Expo.  I had never been before.  I am back to working out at the Y. Thats actually fun.  Enjoying everything that being healthy brings.   Feeling better than Blessed with good health, great family, good friends.  Meeting lots of people.  Still reading the boards daily to see what up with WLS buddies.   Wishing everyone much success and happiness.   Be Blessed !     Later, Bejai!

Gee its cold outside!
on February 1, 2008 6:54 am
Well its Feb. 1st and its cold outside.  I am usually cold all the time.  Partially due to thyroid issues (the lack of one) and iron issues ( I should have more).
Other than that my life is great.   I haven't reached my goals yet, but I am close.  Healthier, happier and back on my exercise program.  That is a good thing. I was falling back, not getting any cardio.  Doing lots of moving but none intentionally for my health i.e., No cardio or weights. That was then and this is now and I am moving foward. Grateful for my  family and friends and their unwavering support and the support of my wls family as well.  I hope this year is better than last for everyone.  We know where we've been. Later, Gator!

Huggzz, Bejai!

July 9, 2006 Ha, 15 days until surgery. Still getting things together. Trying different soups. I havent found any chewable vitamins I like better than Viactiv, but that is not calcium citrate. Practicing eating slower. Less and less carbonated beverages. I know they have to go in order for me to reach my goals.

July 20, 2006, 4 days to go and counting. Well the anxiety has set in. Not that the surgery will be problematic or that I have changed my mind. I keep feeling this is all a dream and I am going to wake up and they are going to say "NO Surgery for you, You missed a form, you insurance lied, we changed our minds". Sounds silly but makes me anxious. I keep going over paperwork trying to make sure I have dotted every i and crossed every t. I need to just take some time and pray.

August 1, 2006
Hello there. I came home on July 26 (my birthday). I thought postop would have been more problematic but it wasn't. I am blessed in that regard. Frances and Cindee came to see me off to surgery. What angels!! My husband was there from start to finish. My oldest son and his fiance came to see me in ICU at 1am. Of course I was sleeping how many minutes do you get to do that in a hospital. Not very many. Thanks for all the good wishes before and after my surgery. More later!

September 18, 2006 Well I have been MIA for a minute now. Lots has happened and I have been busy. Down about 50lbs from my first surgeons visit. Lost 4 dress sizes somewhere( Im not looking for them either). Having lots of fun. Danced with my daughter in the mother daughter dance at church (liturgical dance)
Having more energy really helps. I hadn't really realized how much I wasn't living. Still prodding along using my tool to the best of my ability. Exercising but not enough, joining the YMCA pretty soon. more later!

10/5/06 Well where have I been? Very busy. Pounds and inches gone forever. Glad to see them leave. Feeling pretty good now. Stuffed from lunch. I don't understand anymore how a kid can eat a whole kids meal. Dang thats a lot of food. (ha ha) can't believe I said that. Ohhh but I did. Everything about my lifestyle has changed. For the better. I feel better, eat better, sleep better, live better. I am truly blessed. Hope your journey is going as well.

    American LifeCare., I.W. Local
I am actually blessed to have 2 insurers. One has already ok'd the surgery via phone. Still waiting to hear from the primary insurer. I am not hopeful that they will cover the surgery. I am sure however that God will fix it for me anyway. *** UPDATE= OF course the insurance that cost the most and pays the most has denied the surgery. They say there is a written exculsion, I haven't seen it. Great news, the other insurance, American Lifecare has approved the surgery. It remains to be seen how much they will pay but GOD IS GOOD!
