Surgeon Testimonial

Reuben Zemel M.D.
I asked the surgeon who did my gall bladder removal if he knew of a surgeon who does weight loss surgery. He gave me three names and phone numbers. I chose Dr Zemel. I had my first appointment with him on 4/7/00. The office staff was very nice and helpful, especially his assistant Brenda. She really made me feel at ease. She groaned a little bit when I told her my health insurance provider is HealthAmerica. She told me that HealthAmerica required that I have a psychiatric evaluation, a sleep study and medical necessity before they would approve the procedure. She said that HealthAmerica is sometimes hard to deal with, but I should not worry and that she would help me with the insurance company requirements. Dr Zemel seemed kind of and reserved and aloof at first but once he sat down and begin telling my husband and me about the surgery, he seemed more relaxed and nice. He was very straight forward about the surgery, its benefits and risks. I didn't learn too much about his aftercare program. He has a class that all surgery candidates have to attend. This class costs $200 dollars but I hope to learn about his aftercare program and every thing else I need to know pre-op and post-op about the surgery. I expect the class to be worth the cost and I am looking forward to it.
9/19/00 I saw Dr Zemel today for my first post-op check-up. He is actually very nice. while he was removing the staples, he kept talking to me probably to keep me distracted from the pinching as the staples were being removed. I think he is an excellent and competent surgeon.

I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY~*~ I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard- I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke no word I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked Him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind, I asked that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all.**hugs**

Getting Back on Track

Made it through Day 2!!
posted on 8/21/08 7:01 pm
I was successful for the most part except on my way out of the bldg where I work. I got to work late so I had to park in a different lot than usual.  I successfully ignored the vending machine on my way to my office.  When it was time to go back to the lot I had to pass that vending machine again...no, I didn't pass it up like I should have but I stopped and bought a bag of Twizzlers.  I ate three of them and I started immediately started feeling crappy.  I swear thse things just laid in my pouch and felt like a lead ball. Thank God I threw the rest of the pack right out of my car window before I was tempted to keep eating them no matter how they made me feel!!  Getting rid of those things was worth the chance being stopped by the police for littering.  Other than the Twizzlers, may day 2 was ok.  I weighed in at 152.5# this morning and I ate around 1,368 calories today.
I had:
1 bottle K20 Water, 1 cup of coffee w/ hazelnut powdered creamer and sweet-n-low, one Atkins Chocolate Shake, one container ofCreamy Chicken Soup-at-Hand, 4 Whole Grain Crackers, 1 Body Fortress Super Whey Protein Shot, 1 Sugar -Free Jello Pudding, 3 nasty Twizzlers,  1 pkg Slim Jim Mild Beef & Cheese Sticks, Lo-Carb Pumpkin Sausage Soup and 1 Jello Sugar Free Double Choclate pudding.   I sipped water throughout the day but probably not enough. I'm ready to re-do Day 2 and try to stick to more liquids.
Ready for Day-2 Again!!
