Surgery on Friday!
on January 23, 2008 7:48 pm
Long story short, there was a cancellation, my paperwork was done,  I drew my pre-op labs today, and my surgery is friday 01.25.08.  After I go to the hospital, and see Dr. Suh tomorrow...I'll let you know how I'm doing.

JUST ABOUT THERE...

My final lab is done.  I should have a date by next week.  If it wasn't real before, it is now.  I am so ready!

ALMOST THERE...
on January 1, 2008 4:50 pm

It's been a long 4 months, but I was approved by BlueCross last week, and now I only have to take a nicotine test that Dr. Suh requires before surgery.  I am currently "penciled" in for the end of January, with an actual date after the nic test.

In that aspect I am clean.  I was a social smoker, and once I decided on RNY, I quit.  I don't want to have any complications occur due to something I could prevent, and as much as I enjoyed smoking, it's not worth it.  And yes I said enjoyed.  It was a choice, not an addiction.  Food on the other hand...LOL!

The closer I get to surgery I find myself checking into OH everyday.  I am glad to see some long timers continue with updates.  It gives a clearer picture of what to expect both before and after.  Between support groups and here I have been able to have many of my questions answered.  Also, and the most useful have been the observations of post-ops.  It's hard to know what to ask when you have not been there.  The bluntness of so many..."don't do this or this will happen to you" has been great.   Thanks to everyone.

WAITING...
on December 26, 2007 12:51 pm
This is the hard part.  I was able to get all of my testing done in about 2 weeks, and now I am waiting for my approval.  I'm not too worried as Dr Suh is on vacation right now.  But, after a whirlwind of activity, making appointments, getting results sent to both my PCP and surgeon, to have it all go quiet like this is a little weird.   Anyways, I'll let you know.
