March 2 marked my two year anniversary. I look at my own before pictures and can't believe that is me. I am happily holding pretty steady around the 137 mark. Even after two years, I still hold up a size small tee shirt and say "this will never fit me," but it does. I recently returned to NY State from a vacation in LA. I can't imagine what those hours would have been like in that little airline seat prior to the surgery lol! My health is still good and my energy level is amazing. Prior to the surgery, I would have to decide if I was going to mow the front lawn or the back lawn---no way could I do both. When I finished mowing the entire yard, gardening, and washing my car the other day I remembered how things used to be and realized how I've begun to take this new me for granted. I will ALWAYS be THANKFUL for this new chance to live a full life. Barb Ortiz

It has now been 20 months since I had my surgery in March of 2004. I am holding steady at between 133 and 137--still feeling wonderful! There was an article in our local paper this week written by someone who had the surgery and has started to gain back the weight. She complained of the great price that is paid to have the surgery as far as all the complications that she experienced. I just wanted to say that it isn't always like that. I have had no problems and am enjoying the best health that I have ever known. I still am amazed and thank God every day for the skill of my surgeon and the compassion of people that have shared their experience with me. I haven't posted in a long time, but it's not because I'm failing---just busy enjoying this new life!! Barb Ortiz
