“The Greatest healing therapy is friendship and Love.” ~ Hubert Humphrey "Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, any one can start from now and make a brand new ending "There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." ~ O. S. Marden "Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become. Your vision is the promise of what you shall one day be; your ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil." ~ James Allen "I asked God to give me happiness. God said, "No. I give you blessings. Happiness is up to you." ~ Author Unknown "Goals give you more than a reason to get up in the morning; they are an incentive to keep you going all day. Goals tend to tap the deeper resources and draw the best out of life. "Put yourself in a state of mind where you say to yourself, 'Here is an opportunity for me to celebrate like never before, my own power, my own ability to get myself to do whatever is necessary." ~ Anthony Robbins " ~ Harvey Mackay "Life is a challenge, but if you don't stand and risk you will never know if you were able to win or lose. Challenges are not a thing of winning or losing; they are a way of learning from them to become a better person every day! ~ Alexsander Rodriguez, P.R "Don't ask for it to be easy, ask for it to be worth it." Dan Kuschell "The most important question to ask is not 'What am I getting?' The most important question to ask on the job is 'What am I becoming?'"You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it true. You may have to work for it, however." - Richard Bach "In the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins; not through strength, but through persistence." ~ Jackson Brown "I have always been delighted at the prospect of a new day, a fresh try, one more start, with perhaps a bit of magic waiting somewhere behind the morning." ~ J.B. Priestly "Each of us has an inner dream that we can unfold if we will just have the courage to admit what it is. And the faith to trust our own admission. The admitting is often very difficult." ~ Julia Cameron "The block of granite which was an obstacle in the pathway of the weak becomes a stepping-stone in the pathway of the strong. That block of granite is often nothing more than a decision." ~ Thomas Carlyle "Being yourself is not remaining what you were, or being satisfied with what you are. It is the point of departure." ~ Sydney Harris "Risk! Risk anything! Care no more for the opinion of others, for those voices. Do the hardest thing on earth for you. Act for yourself. Face the truth." ~ Katherine Mansfield "Too often we are scared. Scared of what we might not be able to do. Scared of what people might think if we tried. We let fears stand in the way of our hopes. We say no when we want to say yes. We sit quietly when we want to scream. And we shout with the others, when we should keep our mouths shut. Why? After all, we do only go around once. There's really no time to be afraid. JUST DO IT." ~ Nike advertising campaign "I am convinced that attitude is the key to success or failure in almost any of life's endeavors. Your attitude - your perspective, your outlook, how you feel about yourself, how you feel about other people - determines your priorities, your actions, your values. Your attitude determines how you interact with other people and how you interact with yourself." ~ Carolyn Warner "Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives." ~ Author Unknown "It's never too late to be what you might have been." ~ George Eliot "For every beauty there is an eye somewhere to see it. For every truth there is an ear somewhere to hear it. For every love there is a heart somewhere to receive it." ~ Author Unknown "Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to the end, requires some of the same courage which a soldier needs." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson A wish changes NOTHING; A decision, changes EVERYTHING "So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable." Christopher Reeves "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior." Isaiah 43:2-3 Everyone has beauty but not everyone sees it. "If you don't design your own life plan, chances are you'll fall into someone else's plan. And guess what they may have planned for you? My Story

Start weight - 243           Weight now - 140
Height - 5'5"                     Height - 5'5"
BMI - 40.4                         BMI Now - 23.6

How it all started:

---> I had Gastric Bypass on June 1, 2005. It all started when my mom, who also had gastric bypass, had her surgery. I have always been the bigger kid growing up. After my mom had it I told myself "I would never have surgery that i would loose it on my own". And like everything else that never worked and i always gained it back plus some. After my mom had surgery and did very well, my sister decided to have it. My sister did excellent after surgery and has never slowed down yet. So...my mom AND my sister has had life changing surgery and here I am stuck in a big overweight body. So one day i left a note in my moms truck seat asking her if it was at all possible if I could have it done since they have done so well and are so much healthier now. Surprised, my mom said it was all up to me. So she scheduled me a consultation with Dr. Babineau. That went well and even got a date the day of my consultation. My surgery date was scheduled for june 1, 2005. So I had surgery and everything went well. Afterwards I was sick for about 6 to 8 weeks. My first day home from the hospital everything I tried to eat came right back up and i had the dry heaves really bad. For the weeks to follow I could not keep anything down and it was hard to eat. That finally passed, but to this day I still get sick. I am a year and half out and have lost 108 pds and now weight in at 135 pds. I was "smaller" than most of his patients to begin with. I started in a size 22/24 and am now in a size 9/10. The surgery has most definetly changes my life and as everyone asks i would do it over again.

* Below are my entries from my old profile. I got some help so I know how to switch everything over now finally.

---> I Had my consultation today and it went well. Dr. B went over everything and was very informative about everything.
The office staff started my insurance process and everything got approved very quickly.

---> I got a date and it is scheduled for Wednesday June 1st 2005.

---> I had surgery last Wednesday and I did ok in the hospital. I came home on 06/03/05 (Friday). When I got home that Friday i walked down the driveway and back and was feeling veery good. I woke up Sat morning feeling icky and by the afternoon i had dry heaves very bad. Mom called Dr. B and he said to lay still and it will pass. I could not keep nothing down and it hurt bad. I woke up Sunday with dirrahea(sp?). So i felt icky all day Sunday also.

---> The last couple weeks have been "ok". I am still afraid to eat anything because of my dry heaves spell.

---> I am three weeks out and have already lost 25 pounds.

---> Tommorrow is my six weeks check up appt with Dr. B. I will get the official weight.

---> Well my appt went well, I have lost 33 pounds in 6 weeks, so thats not to bad. I get to start regular foods now so i am excited because I can eat now!! YEAH!!

---> Dropped by Dr. B's office today to weigh in and i could not believe it, already in 9 weeks, i am below 200 pounds. I have lost 45 pounds and am down to 198!!

---> WOW!! I survived TJC band camp IN THE HEAT!! that was the roughest week i have had but i survived and lost weight in the process. I weighed at the first of the week with body FULL of water and bloated from the heat and i was down 48 pds!!

---> Me and my sister, which also had gastric bypass, decided to go to Olive Garden for lunch on Saturday Aug. 14 2005. This was the funniest trip so far. So we go in and sit down and asked the hostess for a kids menu. We then decided we did not need it because we knew what we were getting. So then the waiter comes out and asks where our menus are and we both said we do not need it we know what we want. So we tell him the childs Fettucinne Alfredo, he pauses for a moment and said " I cant let you order that" so my sister wips out the "yellow card" and shows him. He then takes it and shows the manager. So time passed and tok a long time for him to return. When he came back he had our food and card and said" i know what yall go through because my wife had it done. she lost 50 pds in a year." me and my sister looked at each other after he left and said "she didnt have gastric bypass if thats all she lost". When he returned he managed to tell us she went overseas and had it down and they were from Italy. He started telling us that she was going overseas to his brothers to get a face lift also. When we left out of there, me and my sister just looked at each other and said "riiight". So that was our funny story at OG.
