Tomorrow is it!!
on July 12, 2011 9:18 am
well tomorrow is the day and I'm scared, nervous, all sorts of thoughts going on in my head!  I feel I've lost those 3 more lbs I've been trying to lose to reach my goal before surgery.

Today is the clear liquid diet and I'm starving for a salad with grilled chicken strips and dried cranberries and ceasar dressing.  Won't be able to have that for a long long time.  Been eating Flavor Ice pops, drinking Sobe Life Water and regular water since 9:30 a.m. and iffy about opening this can of chicken broth just to put something a bit better on my stomache.  I came this far, I can't stop now....I ask for prayer from you guys! Especially those who have been down this road all ready.

Haven't been on here for awhile.....where I am...
on June 27, 2011 3:39 am
Hi everyone!

Last time I was on here was in April, will try to do better!

Where I am now in my journey is: I'm two weeks and three days away from having my surgery!  Just found out yesterday a friend I went to high school with had her surgery two months ago and already lost 93 lbs!! It's good to know that someone else I've been knowing most of my life has had the surgery....she is going to be one of my supporters!!

Today is the first day of my two weeks to start my lowfat diet! Last week I went to the doctor and lost 2 more lbs which in total I've lost 17 lbs!  I have 3 more lbs to go before my surgery! Wish me luck!

Been awhile......

Hey everyone! Sorry it's been awhile since I've been on here but to bring you up to date on what's been going on so far....

I have finally been approved for surgery!! It was a few hurdles to get over with the insurance company and it was because they wouldn't do the VSG which is what I wanted.  So now my decision is indecisive between the gastric bypass and the band!
I was leaning towards the band but being 5'4 and now weighing 392.4 lbs....(lost 8 lbs on my own) it might not be as effective as the gastric bypass.  Not really feeling the re-rotating of intestines....but the finally decision will be based on what my surgeon says this coming Monday, April 11, 2011.

Nutrition Class last Wednesday!
on February 19, 2011 7:05 am
Very informative the class was....I was surprise though on how much more you went through during and after the surgery!  It kind of made me want to change my mind about having it, but after thinking more about it and looking at all the before and after pictures on here I knew if all these people could do it and follow everything that the doctor said to do, I could do this as well!

So far everything seem to be going steady! I've been to the Cardiologist, went to my nutrition class, now all the paperwork is sent to the insurance company for approval!! Fingers cross that they approve it and then I'll meet with the surgeon.

Went to the Dietitian yesterday!
on February 11, 2011 1:49 am
She was very helpful and the information she gave me was informative! I decided to stick with the 1600 calorie diet my doctor put me on before surgery.  It's going to be hard to follow these guidelines and go from a full bowl of cereal to only 3/4 cup of cereal.  Just preparing for and portioning my food so I can get use to it before surgery....doing it now will help me instead of waiting till after I have the surgery to eat less.

Monday, it's off to the Cardiologist!

My Story

I have been heavy all my life! When I was a kid I had a great grandmother who got up early in the morning and fixed all the good things I liked to eat for breakfast, then she would start fixing dinner. She didn't fix meat and two sides, she would cook about 3 different meats, 5 different sides and rolls, 3 different desserts. When I was a chubby kid everybody in my family thought I was so cute to the point I got my cheeks pinched just about everyday. Now, as a obese adult it's no longer cute, it's dangerous! The same people who loved me as a chubby kid, saying "How Cute!" are the same ones now saying "You got to do something!" I have a lot of support from family and friends now that I'm on the journey of WLS, especially my mom who has seen what I've been going through for 31 of my 41 yrs. My husband is also supportive! He is a big person himself, but he walks to just about every place around where we live. He tries to get me to walk but he just doesn't understand how hard it is for me at the weight I am. I weigh more than him, can wear his shirts and they fit me just right, which depress me....his shirts should be hanging off me not fitting me. But the time will come SOON I'm hoping when my own clothes will no longer fit, when I can walk two blocks, when I can go up the stairs without breathing hard. It will be an emotional day for me!
