    Hi Brandy, I read your profile. I live in Ontario a small town. I did what you did. I went through the USA and missed the cut by 2 weeks for the USA surgery. I'm now starting over through the Canadian process. I have the initial meeting and now starting the 7 appointments listed on my page but if I do them all right the surgery is spring. I'm a little nervous as the USA process seemed to go a little quicker. I was on the Canadian weight list five years but they lost my name in the system and so they bumped me up where I should have been. How did you find going through the meetings? How long has it taken you to get to the surgery point? I'm spending you good thoughts in your process. Catherine from Sarnia

Man oh man, I am getting so discouraged.  I just would like to get "The call" for my date, so I can go and buy all my vitamins and protein powders and shakes.  I feel like I cant buy this stuff yet on the incase that I dont ever get a call back.. !!!

Received My Opti-Fast!

I got a call today that a I had a package, and it was my 4 week supply of Opti -fast.  Now just waiting anxiously for a call with a surgery date.  I cant believe how fast it came in, I just ordered it on the 13th.

So I met with the surgeon yesterday, now I just have to wait to hear from his secretary for a surgery date!!!

Hi there,

Once upon a time (two years ago) I went to the USA for a consultation for the Roux en Y, but was sadly declined by my Ohip in canada because it is now offered here.

Since then I have had 3 appointments at the Toronto Western Hospital.
appt 1- Orientation... Which I drove 6 hours in a snow storm for.. and everyone else cancelled.lol
appt 2-Nurse practitioner, and social worker
appt3-Nutrion class
may will be appt 4- dietician and psyciatrist
may 13... meet the surgeon!!!!

wish me luck friends!!!!!!

My Story

HI!
My name is Brandy, I'm from a very small town in Ontario.
I have been over weight all my life and I just keep getting bigger.
Back in October 2009 I went to Ypsolanti MI for a consaltaion to get the Roux en Y suregery, and recently just found out from Goverment Canada that I was not approved due to it now being offered in Ontario. That was a big time disappointment.
Now more then a year later (Feb2nd 2011), I went for Orientation at the Toronto Western Hospital. My next appointment is Feb 22nd to meet with the Nurse, and the Social worker.
