I am planning a revision to an RNY ASAP. This stupid lap band is going away.  I've had heartburn & reflux for over a year. Tums were my constant companion. I can't wait to begin this chapter of my life.

I had the RnY on the 11th of May. So for I've lost 38 # s. This is a lot easier than the band. I really wish I'd have done the RnY first.

My Story

Hello all, I am a 54 year old wife, Mom, & RN. I was born "fat" (18 inches 8# 4 oz) & have never had a skinny day in my life. I have been married for 37. We have 3 beautiful children & 9 grand kids (8 living on earth). My son's girlfriend has 2 beautiful girls also. Our 12 year old granddaughter, Lauren died in November of 2011.

I had the lap band 7-16-08 &  lost about 50 lbs the first year, then I started gaining to where I'm almost back to my beginning weight. Since Lauren's death I've put on about 20 lbs. I am a stress eater, always have been. The Dr told me that I'm considered a "failed band" by the insurance rules.

I am planning a revision to an RNY as soon as the insurance approves it. I'm double covered & both policies will pay for the revision surgery.  Right now I'm just waiting to hear what hoops I must jump through.  Wish me luck . I'm looking forward to being a loser.
