I weigh under 200 lbs !
on May 22, 2009 7:32 am
Well, it's finally happened... I got up yesterday morning and look at what I found on the scale !!  199.2 !  (ssshhh... don't anyone tell Dr. McDevitt I broke out my scale again)  lol   I knew I was getting close and I'm so excited to have finally broken the 200 lb mark....  Actually, I'm still amazed at the transformation that can happen in a year.  A year ago I was 340 lbs and wearing a size 30-32.  Today, I am 199 and recently bought my first pair of size 14 jeans !!  Do you know how long it's been since I've worn a size 14 ?  7th grade.. so I must've been about 12 or 13 years old.  The only reason I vividly remember what size I wore at that age is because that's when I got my first pair of jeans, EVER.  My dad always made me wear slacks or dresses growing up and when I was in 7th grade I started babysitting and took the first money I made and bought myself a pair of jeans.. size 14.
This has been BY FAR the BEST thing I've ever done for myself !!  I would go through this process again in a minute, no questions asked.  Obviously, it's a learning process and I've made mistakes along the way... caught myself grazing a few times, been stuck a few times.. I've even thrown up a few times.  I guess you can't expect to change old habits overnight.  I'm learning what works for me and what doesn't.  This band is definately working for me !!  THANK YOU, DR. MCDEVITT!!  He is and always will be my HERO!  Without him, I wouldn't be where I am right now.  I feel like I have a whole new lease on life.  For the first time in my life, I have faithfully exercised 3 to 5 times a week for the past year !  I've still got a ways to go.. but, I'll get there.  I'm never going back.. I will NEVER see a 200 or 300 on my scale again.

The first day of the rest of my life........
on August 5, 2008 10:28 am
Tomorrow is my big day !  I almost can't believe it is finally here.  I'm a little hervous, but more anxious and excited than anything.  I will, however, be glad when it is all over with. lol  I've lost 60 pounds since March to get my BMI under 50.  It sounded like an impossible task in the beginning, but I made my mind up that I was going to do this.  I came on OH and started reading to learn what kinds of things lapband patients are eating and I changed the way I eat and the things I eat from the very beginning.  The fact that once I get my band, I will finally have a tool to help me keep the weight off this time has kept me going everyday.  So, tomorrow is my 42nd birthday and also my band day.  Happy Birthday to ME !  This is going to be the best present I could ever get, for it is giving me a NEW LIFE !

My Story

My name is Brenda.  I'm originally from Illinois, but have been in SC for 11 years now.  I've been overweight my entire life... since birth !  I've struggled with yoyo dieting since I was a teenager and have tried every silly thing out there from Richard Simmons Deal a Meal to Susan Powter's Stop the Insanity.. remember that one ? LOL   Well, I am finally ready to STOP THE INSANITY, by getting the lapband.  I started this process in March and am down 37 pounds as of today.  I think I'm so motivated right now because I know that this time I am FINALLY going to keep it off !  I have been to 3 seminars, have seen the NUT, had fitness eval and psych eval.  I finally have my first appointment with the surgeon on July 11 !  Woohoo !
