Surgeon Testimonial

William Johnson
I went to the seminar on September 5 and was really impressed with Dr. Johnson. It took me a while to hear what he was saying because I couldn't get over how HOT he was!! It should be illegal for someone to be that good looking! :) But I really did like him and felt very confident trusting him with such a big life changing operation. He was confident but not arrogant or cocky like so many doctors are.
9/19/07 - Had my first consultation with Dr Johnson today one on one, he was amazing and very kind, very patient in answering all my questions. Looking forward to going forward with the process!
11/26/07 - My opinion of Dr. Johnson has not changed but I have to say I'm very disappointed in his office staff. They were so nice and lovely at first when I was deciding on a surgeon, and now that I have so much time and money invested they either are hopelessly understaffed or they just don't care. My file sat completed for 2 weeks and never got submitted, I finally went and picked up the file myself to fax to insurance and was treated like I was crazy for doing so. My insurance then put my case on hold to talk to Dr. Johnson to confirm a few things, and I was told today he wouldn't do that without a denial letter and a formal appeal even though my insurance said it was easier for the doctor to just call and they can reverse the decision immediately. So unfortunately even though Dr. Johnson said he thought we could definitely do this by the end of the year, looks like it won't be due to his staff being too busy to even talk to their patients.
3/17/08 - Dr. Johnson performed my surgery flawlessly, checked on me twice in the hospital, he's a great surgeon! Still not a huge fan of his office staff but I think it was worth it to have him perform the surgery.

4 Months Down!
on July 10, 2008 10:27 am

Today is my 4 month surgiversary!  I am down 82 lbs since surgery which is awesome.  I've stalled out this past week but I'm sure that will change.  I'm wearing clothes I haven't gotten into since high school which is pretty amazing.   I am feeling pretty good.  I've started losing a lot of hair which sucks but hopefully that will slow soon.  Luckily I have a lot of hair so it's not very noticeable.  I've really learned the no-drinking with meals because everytime I forgot and took a swig of water after a meal I got sick, but now I know to wait a half hour.  And my friends and people I work with are finally saying how great I look, it's about time!

In the 4 months since my surgery I have lost 1.75" in my neck, 5.5" in my chest, 7.5" in my waist, and 7" in my hips!

Life is great and I am finally getting my confidence back, hallelujah!

3 months out and counting...
on June 18, 2008 7:50 pm
I'm doing great, feeling pretty good. I still don't have much energy but my surgeon told me this past week that most people get a lot of energy back in months 3-6 so I'm hoping that will happen for me soon. He also said a lot of people experience hair loss in months 3-6 and I have started seeing that. In the shower I see a shocking amount of hair come out when I am shampooing and then I see a lot come out on my hairbrush as well. Luckily I have really thick hair so it's not noticeable. I hope it stops soon though!

I have lost a total of 76 lbs since surgery, just a couple days over 14 weeks. I am really happy with my progress. I am finally beginning to see major changes in my body and I've gone from a size 20 to a size 14/16. I'm wearing clothes I haven't worn since high school which is pretty amazing!

Second stall already!
on May 23, 2008 7:55 pm

I am 10 weeks out and am having my second stall for the past couple of days.  I'm not quite as upset about this one because I think I've prepared myself for it after my first one, and because I have lost 62 lbs since surgery which I feel like is a big number!  I think I probably haven't been eating enough, I have had very little appetite this week. (Never thought I'd say that!!)

I think I'm finally appreciating this surgery as the tool it is.  There is so much healing to be done after surgery and I had so many questions, I didn't know WHAT I was feeling.  I couldn't tell the difference between head hunger and real hunger, getting sick from eating too much.  I honestly didn't know if having this surgery was the right decision.  But now I actually can hear and feel my body's cues for when I am hungry and when I am satisfied.  I have finally learned to eat SLOWLY and chew well.  I finally feel like I have some control over what I put in my mouth which is an absolutely amazing feeling.  I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to have this surgery, I can't even put into words how excited I am about what the future holds!!!

Finally broke through my first stall!
on May 6, 2008 6:44 pm

The scale finally started moving again, and I passed the half-century mark!  I've lost 54 lbs in the 8 weeks since surgery.   I'm really happy with the progress but I don't see a huge difference in my body.  I've lost a lot of weight in the past (even though I always gained it back) and I could tell a huge difference after 50 lbs lost, but this time I've only gone down one pants size and still don't have much energy.  I'm glad the scale is moving again though!

My first stall...
on April 30, 2008 6:43 pm
And I am NOT happy about it!    I'm only 7 1/2 weeks out and the scale has not moved in over a week.  I have even started exercising regularly and still it won't budge.  I keep telling myself it will end soon and its just my body adjusting to all the weight I've lost already but my heart doesn't believe it.  I have so many doubts in my head right now, I'm afraid I'm doing something wrong, I'm just generally concerned about where I'm headed.

My Story

I am a 25 years old asst. manager at a bridal salon in Atlanta where we sell couture wedding gowns. I'm single, still looking for the right guy!  I love my friends, love my family, love my furbabies, love my house, love my job, I love everything about my life except my weight! I have decided to have the lap rny gastric bypass.  I wanted the lap-band at first but after a TON of research and talking with the surgeon I have decided the bypass is a better option for me!
