Surgeon Testimonial

Edward Cussatti, M.D.
Dr Cussatti is the BEST surgeon around! He takes the time to explain EVERY little detail to you and he really takes a sincere interest in your health and well being. I was originally banded by Dr Cussatti on 1/9/04 and 3 1/2 years later I had a slip and Dr Cussatti took EXCELLENT care of me when I had to have it removed. Now I'm having him do a revision to an RNY on me because I know his surgical skills are superior!

Long Time no Post :(
on October 28, 2008 4:08 pm
Finally found some time to update!! So in the past several months, I made GOAL!!! I wear a size SMALL (tears in my eyes) top and a size 8 jeans. I'm LOVING nursing school and I was elected Co-Vice President of the Nursing Club and I feel VERY honored and I hope my peers will like the way I perform my duties. All my 1 years labs are PERFECT also. My next project is getting a thigh lift done because my legs look like a Shar-pei (YUCK) and I'm hoping to do it this summer inbetween semisters at school. So I'm still around, just not posting as much because I go to school full time days and I work full time evenings in the PACU still. Life sure is GRAND!!!

Happy July!!
on July 5, 2008 7:01 pm
Ok, I'm totally hooked on road bike riding and this past week did 39 miles and my time was 2.5 hours. I think I'm going to try for the "century ride" this comming September. Also another GREAT thing happened today...I was dress shopping for an up comming wedding and I achieved my personal goal...size 8 pants and a size 8 dress AND the scale finally moved after 2 months of going nowhere...down 2lbs!

I Did It Again :)
on June 22, 2008 12:20 pm
Today I did bike ride #2 with the Tour De Force (6/22/08). It was the Chris Surrency Memorial Ride and I completed the course of 37.5 miles in 3 hours!!! Only one minor incident though I got bumped by a car, fell off my bike and got some nice road rash on my right knee It's alittle swollen and bruised, but I'm just so proud of myself for finishing the ride and making such a good time. I'm so happy I took up bike riding I HIGHLY recommend it!

I did IT!!!
on June 4, 2008 7:23 pm
I actually did a 25 mile bike ride on 6/1. I went up every hill without stopping and to this day still can't believe did it. On 6/22 I signed up for another ride, this one is 40 miles and should be easier because there's no hills, just a nice road ride.

My New Challenge!
on May 26, 2008 5:26 pm
Ok, so I'm 7lbs from goal and totally in shock. I keep hopping on the scale and seeing those wonderful numbers 157lbs. I don't remember the last time my weight was this low, maybe Jr. High School?? Anyway, my sister-in-law talked me into doing a 50 mile bike ride on 6/1/08. I've been working with my trainer to get into riding shape. I also bought myself a nice new Fuji 400 road bike with the lovely little stimulus check from the government. I feel pretty confident that I'll be able to complete the ride and I'm hoping to do it in 5 hours.

My Story

I'm a 46 year old female who was originally banded on 1/9/04. I LOVED my lapband and I went from 288 lbs down to 174lbs in 15 months. I maintained that weight for 2 years and treated myself to an abdominalplasty and a little liposuction on my hips, knees, and thighs. After my plastic surgery I hit my all time low of 168lbs! Losing all that weight gave me such a confidence and I felt GREAT about myself again. It is now 6/1/07 and I found out that my band has slipped. I also discovered that I had put a few pounds back on.  I had an unfill and was put on nexium to help with the new reflux that went along with my slip.  On 6/22/07 I had an upper endoscopy and discovered that I also had a nice new hiatal hernia, some minor erotion, and a severe case of esophagitis.  The gastroenterologist then added carafate and reglan to the med mix.  On 7/30/07 I admitted defeat and had my lapband removed. At first I wanted another lap band, but after alot of soal searching and researching I decided to revise to RNY. The statistics were VERY HIGH that if I indeed did put another lap band inside me it would slip again, so I decided against it. On 8/8/07 I found out that Empire APPROVED my revision surgery to RNY.  At first the surgical coordinator schedualed my revision surgery for 8/29/07, but when I went for my post-op visit, my surgeon changed my date to 10/1/07.  He said my insides were VERY inflamed and my belly really is VERY swollen....I look about 7 months pregnant....so he wants me to wait 2 months for everything to heal.  This is my story condensed quite a bit because in all honesty, it would be impossible to put 3 1/2 years worth of trials and tribulations here :)
