Surgeon Testimonial

My surgeon is Dr. Jason Balette at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands, The Woodlands, TX. This is a fairly new program, but I knew I was in very capable hands. So much so that I was perfectly comfortable with being the first RNY performed at that facility. Let me start by saying from the first meeting I knew that this was the surgeon for me. He is a very compassionate and caring person, and never have I felt rushed at any visit. His seminar was very informative and gives information on both the LapBand and RNY procedures. I was already working with another surgeon preparing for LapBand surgery, but I was so glad that I went to Dr. Balette's seminar. Not only did I leave there with some great information, but also I found that RNY was a better option for me personally. Though I will say that there was not pressure from Dr. Balette in either direction. He gives you the information and will answer any question you have to help you make the right INFORMED decision that is best for you. He took time going over the consents with me and making sure I new everything I could expect and all the risks for the procedure. The office staff are all amazing! I always feel my calls are important and are handled very promptly. His nurse and assistants have always answered my concerns quickly and let me know that my needs are important to them. I have enjoyed sharing my progress with all of them and sometimes I wonder who gets more excited by my progress....me or them? :) This whole experience has been great, and Dr. Balette has been there every step of the way. Although there were times I felt I might be having too many questions are concerns, he has always been there to answer them and not once have I ever felt that a single concern was not important to him. I feel that this surgery has not only changed my life, but more importantly SAVED my life. I cannot believe the energy level I have and how great I feel! Things have changed so much for my family, and I can now enjoy life with my two young children. I feel that I have Dr. Balette to thank for that and could not have picked a better surgeon!

9 month post op post a bit late!!!
on March 16, 2008 8:25 am
Ok, so I am now 9 1/2 months post op and a little late posting  LOL!  I finally have posted my 9 month pictures as well as the merged images.  Wow sometime I do not realize where I have come until I see them all together like that.

The article for the hospital that many of you know about came out last month.  For those that are out of town......be watching your mailbox.  Of course at work it is hard to pass someone that has not seen it.  I get told almost everyday by someone "saw your picture" or "I showed my family your picture and how I know you".  Embarrasing but then also amazing.  I am sharing this journey with soooo many!!!!  Makes it all that more special.

This months NSV or non scale victory....we went to the rodeo and I rode rides with E and by that I mean rode in the same car with her.  For example we rode in the same bumper car and on the Ferris wheel.  I have never ridden rides with the kids and it has been a LONG time since I have ridden at all.

That and I have gone from a 4x (30/32) to a Large/X Large (14-16).   I have noticed just how great I have been feeling!!!  Just walking from the car to the stadium was an effort last year but this year I was the one dragging everyone else!!

I have 4lbs to go at this point to be in ONEderland (less than 200) so that is my next short term goal and my goal is to be 180lbs by my one year check up which puts my BMI  at just overweight instead of Obese.

Now that I have been released to excercise again after my other surgeries and am going to the gym and am seeing the stalled scale move again.

Watch for another update to come in just a few weeks as it is almost time for my 10 month pics!
