Surgeon Testimonial

Mir Ali, M.D.
Dr. Ali is the kind of Doctor I was looking for, straight forward and direct. He has an excellent bedside manner. He saw me all three days I was in the hospital, as well as his P.As. The staff at The Orange Coast Memorial Center for Obesity is knowledgeable and caring. The office requirements, pre-surgery are well explained, with plenty of time for questions and answers. The post surgery care is as well thought out and is explained as the pre surgery. The after support is fantastic. They have weekly groups at three different locations. Also monthly post op foods help. My experience with Dr. Ali, and the Center for Obesity has been nothing but positive. I would totally recommend them to anybody contemplating weight loss surgery of any type.

Yesterday was 1 month out...
on August 23, 2010 8:54 pm
....and I am down 24 pounds, and I feel great. I am so excited. I have had to buy a pair of pants because my old ones were falling off as I walked. I also had to punch 3 holes in my belt to hold up the new pants. I am in the second week of soft and pureed foods. At first, it was better, but I am ready for some meat. I have not ate anything real since Father's day and it is beginning to show.  I have had one "incident" in my month since surgery, I had a bout of dumping syndrome. trust me when I say this: IT IS REAL! I was going to the bowling alley to watch my family league bowl. I had a water bottle that would last me 3 hours. I put ice in it before I left the house. I stopped to get some Gatorade Zero and poured it into my bottle. Well, it didn't all fit. so I just chugged the rest.....WRONG!!!! By the time I got to the bowling alley, the cold sweat had started. I watched for 10 minutes. I thought some fresh air would help. It didn't I called my family and told them I was leaving. That I didn't feel too good. I got home and 6 hours later I was able to go to sleep. I learned my lesson...sip sip sip...never gulp ever.

OMG 2 Weeks Post-Op
on August 7, 2010 6:51 pm
Well, I just can't believe that it has already been two weeks since I had surgery. I have to say, I feel great. I had my 2 week post-op on Thursday. I have lost 12.6 lbs since surgery. My 6 bullet holes are healing nicely. One more week, then I can move on to purees (I can't wait, I haven't chewed anything since Father's Day) I saw a physicians assistant, Dr. Ali was in surgery. Said I was right on schedule and all was moving along as planned. I had hoped for more weight loss, but I forgot that I was on liquids for almost 5 weeks prior to surgery and lost 38 lbs. there. So far 50.6 lbs. is a good jump start. I have had to look through my closet to locate my next size down jeans because the ones I was wearing are definitely too big now. I have to write this down for myself...lol. The only thing I am craving at this point is....wait for it....wait for it, you are not going to believe this.....A regular old Hot Dog on a soft bun with mustard.....is that too funny or what? Everything in the world I could be craving and it's a lousy hot dog.....I crack me up sometimes. Oh well,  I will check back later.

Still no job yet. I have put in several applications. just waiting on God to open a door.
