Surgeon Testimonial

Mir Ali, M.D.
Dr. Ali is the kind of Doctor I was looking for, straight forward and direct. He has an excellent bedside manner. He saw me all three days I was in the hospital, as well as his P.As. The staff at The Orange Coast Memorial Center for Obesity is knowledgeable and caring. The office requirements, pre-surgery are well explained, with plenty of time for questions and answers. The post surgery care is as well thought out and is explained as the pre surgery. The after support is fantastic. They have weekly groups at three different locations. Also monthly post op foods help. My experience with Dr. Ali, and the Center for Obesity has been nothing but positive. I would totally recommend them to anybody contemplating weight loss surgery of any type.

Sorry it's been soooooo long!

I have not posted for some time. I have reasons for this. Everything weight loss is going great. I have lost 90 lbs since I started my journey, but I suffered a bigger loss 2 weeks ago. My Dad passed away. He had been in the hospital for two weeks suffering from colitis. He got badly dehydrated and suffered a large amount of kidney damage. Saturday morning around 3:45 on October 9, 2010, he went to be with the Lord and the rest of him immediate family. This event in my life could not have come at a worse time. Eleven weeks out of RNY Surgery. See, I am an emotional eater. I ate to make me feel better when things were bad. I ate when things were good. I ate for any feeling I had. Now I am suffering one of the biggest losses of my life, and I don't have food to turn to. I can't. My body wont let me. It kinda sucks, being forced to find a new way to cope so soon after surgery. I have had to do it. I turned to my Faith and my Men's group at my church. I have turned to exercise, walking and biking. I turned to family, talking about the good times we shared, and there were many. The best thing I can thank God for, is that my Dad got to see the start of a new walk in my life. He saw the immense change weight loss surgery made in me. Now he is a major part of it. He is the reason I have to develop new coping methods to deal with my feelings. Even in his death, he is still helping me to be a better person.  I couldn't ask for a better Dad. I love you, and miss you so much. I am going to succeed at this because of you!
