My Story

I attended an informational session on April 8th 2004 at Saint Francis Hospital.

I have finished all my consults and testing ... Psych, Pulmonary, Cardiac, Stress test, sleep study etc. During this process I found out that I have Sleep Apnea and high cholestrol. I am awaiting for an appointment to meet with the surgeon now. (Dr. Barba) So far this has been a very long process but I am excited to be getting so close. I'm so grateful for all the wonderful people who share their stories. I am so inspired to keep going and be patient because of the people who share their experiences :)

I have a surgery date scheduled for January 13, 2005 I'm so excited and nervous at the same time.

My surgery went well. Didn't really have any complications. I had trouble breathing and they were worried about blood clots so frequently checked on me and did catscans and ultrasounds but the tests all checked out ok. I guess the pain was worse then I thought though. The pain meds did help a lot when I got home from hospital. I slept for about 1 month in a recliner, couldn't lay flat on the bed. I currently have lost almost 100 pounds. Sometimes I feel really good and like a whole different person. Other times I feel like I'm the size that I use to be. As far as eating goes, I'm able to eat almost anything. I just have to remember to take my time to chew and to not eat to much. I'm so glad that I choose to have this surgery and I'm greatful that I was able too and that things worked out well for me.

It's been a long time since I updated. I am so glad I had the surgery. At lot has happened since then. I feel like an entire different person. I am a lot more confidient in myself and I really enjoy life.  I lost about 180 lbs and I have been staying at the same weight for about 4 months now. I would still like to lose more. The problem that I have now is my loose skin, I would LOVE to be able to have surgery to remove it, but right now thats just not possible.

I've lost over 200 lbs!!  Glad I had the surgery, but have had a lot of problems / issues since surgery.  I've had chronic pain for the past two years back issues related to losing so much weight quickly according to my doctors.  We also just found out last week that my husband and I are going to have a baby :-)
