Surgeon Testimonial

Gregory Walton, M.D.
My first question to Dr. Walton was how soon I would be able to model for the Abercrombie and Fitch catalog... Once he actually realized I wasn't serious, we had a great conversation. rnDr. Walton was generous with his time, visited with my family before and after surgery, and just generally makes you feel good about your decision. rnrnDr. Walton truly cares about his patients. He said from the beginning that surgery is not a great option, but it is the best option we have for beating obesity. I am carrying around contact information now that will allow me to reach Dr. Walton any time I need him.rnrnI believe I made the best possible choice in surgeons.

I'm typical... not normal - but typical...
posted on 12/1/08 8:10 am
Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone, and like the typical American, I gained a couple of pounds over the holiday.  I'm not torqued up about it - I made the choices of what to eat, knowing that they would not become regular choices, and knowing that they were a bit beyond what I would eat regularly.  It's OK - I made the choice.  I was able to have a bit of everything I wanted without making myself sick, and still probably ate 1/2 or 1/3 of what I ate last year at Thanksgiving - and last year I never even thought about it, just started shoveling and kept on until I was miserable.

Now that Thanksgiving is past, I'm back on plan.  I expect I will have a few more non-plan moments through Christmas and New Years, but it's OK.  This journey is a long one - a change to last a lifetime, not a season.  I'm NOT on a diet, and hope never to be on one again.  I've changed my insides and my outsides, and my head... the changes are permanent, and it's OK that I make choices outside the norm on occasion.

I'm not letting my scale drive me crazy.  I am still weighing daily - just because I seem to have to... but if it goes up or down daily does not really change my outlook on the day.  I know that I have already come a long, long way from where I started.  I expect the next 50-60 pounds to be more work, but I know they will come off as I continue to follow my plan.  I couldn't be happier with my decision to have the VSG and change my life.  Now I'll never have to worry about being over 400 pounds when I hit 40 years old... I'm going to make it to my goal...I have made the decision - that was the hard part.
