Surgeon Testimonial

Marek Lutrzykowski, M.D.
From the beginning, I was impressed with Dr. L's knowledge and concern. I will be having a procedure that is different from most called a sleeve gastrectomy. It is actually the first part of the DS. Dr. L is the first surgeon who actually said he could help me, being a Crohn's patient. I was told that as a Crohn's patient there are a few different risks involved, but Dr L explained them all in detail and I have great confidence in him.rnHe stresses that you must follow the after care and attend support meetings and I intend to follow these.

long time between updates
on November 17, 2008 4:57 pm
It has been a long time since I have updated my profile.  This has been an incredible journey and I am still on the road.  As of today, I have lost 105 pounds and now weigh less than I did when I gave birth to my first daughter in 1975!  Because I spent all of my adult life as a person over 300 pounds, I am having a hard time wrapping my head around a smaller me.
But I have had a few NSV's.  First one was when my brother-in-law and his wife came to visit this September.  They wanted to go to Detroit and see the new water front, eat at Greek Town and ride the people mover.  I was ok until I noticed that we had to walk through turnstyles to get on the people mover.  I stood there shivering, afraid that I again would not fit.  But my DH pushed me through saying that I would be fine.  And guess what?!  I FIT!  Then when we were visiting my brother in PA, we had to ride a bus to go to an apple festival.  Again the thoughts ran through my head that I would not fit on the bus and would have to walk side-ways.  But I could not believe it when I was actually able to walk down the isle of the bus like a normal person and my husband could sit on the seat with me!  But the best has been watching my clothes go from a 30-32 to a 18-20!  I am almost out of the "women's" department!
The weight loss has begun to slow down and I am having to work harder on choosing the right foods to eat, but for the first time in my life, I believe I can do this.  Thank you to everyone who posts and encourages.  You are a wonderful community and I could not have done this without you!
