Surgeon Testimonial

Wade Barker, M.D.
Dr Barker was really nice. He gave pros and cons of having a revision surgery and the complications that may arise. The office is busy but its well worth the wait. The longest process was getting re-approved for revision gastric bypass surgery with Dale but he was really nice and sweet about it. All in all so far so good!

Thursday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I'm a 28 year old Occupational therapist. My face has always been beautiful but my body was a whole different issue. I have been overweight as long as I can remember. I'm intersted in talking to people who have had the surgery (especially with Dr. Kuhn in Dallas, TX ). I would like to find out as much info as possible about the procedure and life after  I have  recently had my 1 on 1 consult with Dr. Kuhn for lap band and it was great! Dr. Kuhn answered all of my 5 million questions :) and soothed my concerns and issues I had going into the meeting. 5 of my friends have had surgery performed with Dr. Kuhn and no complaints so now its my turn. I am here to meet new people who can inform me of WLS surgery and strategies and make some cool friends! I was suppose to have gastric bypass about 3 yrs ago in Houston while I was in grad school and working full time but I lost my insurace and my surgery had to be postponed. So now that I am working and dont have as many life stressors as I did previously I am soo ready to get started on my WLS journey. Please pray for me as I begin this life changing journey.
God bless

100 lbs Gone
on October 30, 2008 8:22 pm
Hi everyone
I was just letting you know that I've reached my 100 lb weight lost!!  My weight is still fluctuating back and forth and it took a while to truly hit that point but I've made it. I have 77 lbs to go to reach my own personal goal. My Dr wants me to lose 50 lbs by Jan. My weight lost has slowed down soooo much and its getting harder to stay on track. I'm in a size 20 jeans and a 1x shirt or 16/18 depending on the style and cut of the shirt. I have a lot to do and really need to do more exercise. Some weeks I do well and then some weeks I dont. I have to stay in the fight. Anyways just a quick update I know its been a while. I had to get my gallbladder removed in July and they found a hernia in there during surgery so they did a repair during the surgery.  Anyways I'm doing well. Take care. I will post new pics soon.
Peace and Blessings
Love

5 MONTHS POST OP
on June 18, 2008 5:45 am
Hey guys
Just giving an update. Well as 6/18/08 I am
around between 80-82 lbs weight loss. I weigh between 255 or 257.  I am getting discouraged thininking its not coming off as fast as I would like it to. The scale keeps going back & forth & I'm getting so discouraged thinking what if this is all that I lose? I saw somewhere on here lost 100 lbs in 5 months. There's no way I'd hit that. I am doing a little better getting the protein in and began exercising more. I get up aat 5 AM and work out 30min cardio DVD. Once I began kickingup the exercise thats when I really did see the weight loss. I didnt lose my normal 10 lbs this past month.  Now my chewable calcium citrate are making me throw up so I havent taken many in over 2 months. I know for sure I am not drinking enough water and I'm working on that.  I can wear all my old clothes but they are really baggy. I can wear and 18-20 top depending on the style all the way up to my original size 26-28 (but its super loose). Pants I am definately at a 24 heading to a 22. Well this is just a little update for now. I am eating more than when I was on liquids and I wonder is this normal? Also if anyone knows how much should a person 5 months out should eat? I do cheat occassionally and know that everyday wont be a perfect day. I  usualy just eat until I begin to feel a tightnes which my nutrtion said that was a good sign. Sometimes I think I overeat but never throw it back up. I can eat a subway 6in but only half of it with about 7 baked chips. Let me know what you guys think. Any advise welcomed.
Take care
Peace and Blessings

4 MONTHS POST-OP

Hey guys
Just giving an update. Well as 5/3/08 I am
around between 73-74 lbs weight loss. I weigh between 263 or 264.  I am getting discouraged thininking its not coming off as fast as I would like it to. I saw somewhere on here lost 100 lbs in 5 months. There's no way I'm going to hit that. I am doing a little better getting the protein in but havent went to excerise in the gym this month (I dont think). I did buy some free weights and arm and ankle weights and occassionally walk in the park. I do have more energy. Now my chewable calcium citrate are making me throw up so I havent taken many in over month. I know for sure I am not drinking enough water and I'm working on that.  I can wear all my old clothes but they are baggy. I can wear and 18-20 top depending on the style all the way up to my original size 26-28 (but its super loose). Pants I am definately at a 24 heading to a 22. Well this is just a little update for now. I am eating more than when I was on liquids and I wonder is this normal? Also if anyone knows how much should a person 4 months out should eat? I usualy just eat until I begin to feel a tightnes which my nutrtion said that was a good sign. I think I'm doing a 1/4th cup for each item. I will add pics soon. Wonder will people be able to see a difference?
Take care
Peace and Blessings
